The Pirates have a top 5 farm system and have already graduated Hayes and Cruz. The owner sucks but if Cherington plays his cards right with Reynolds, he's got the Pirates set up as well as they can be considering that the owner sucks.

But I think, narrative-wise, you get a good cross-section of baseball history through the major mature periods. If pressed I'd probably include Speaker, Cobb, Wagner, Hornsby, and Walter Johnson, but... well. Bonds is a terrible enough person.
