They've been pushing the latter view hard too, at varying levels of intensity. 2-3 years ago when they brought out the little icon thingy they would forcibly switch you from "Latest Tweets" to "Home" as your default view, and you could switch manually to Latest Tweets but then a couple days later it would silently switch you back to "Home" whether or not you wanted it to. It was maddening. They eventually backed off doing that but by that point I had stopped caring to follow anything so I don't know what's been going on in the interim.
