I thought FTX did AAX.
Did ask what?
Did AAX's bankruptcy.
No I did ask about... it was me!
Seriously? Will you be at the trial?
Who's trial?
They found Hoo?
Who found who?
They found themselves?
Who's "they"?
I haven't heard of THEY. I can't believe Hoo rebranded.
I don't care who rebranded, who went bankrupt?
Well that explains the new name.

I honestly haven't dug into it further since she stepped down. Merkel essentially served as the de facto President of the EU, and neoliberal policies were the norm. All US administrations from Reagan on have been some degree of neoliberal, but Merkel was a standout for European neoliberalism since Thatcher went down. Seeing the UK spasming with Brexit and the ongoing failures of neoliberal policies gives me some hope for them, eventually, but since they cut their nose off to spite the EU I'm not sure what the greater effects will be. I'm a little behind the curve on this stuff, as I'm often busy and reading too much about modern economics makes me angry so I have to meter it out.

I thought Germany was backpedalling on nuke closures thanks to Putin's natural gas remaining in his own trousers at the moment. Not like, eagerly, but I can also see that they'd probably have to steer carefully to avoid having some kind of freak out over it. The plan always seemed to be to burn coal instead, and to just buy nuclear power from :france:

You should read a article from the spectator from 2018 called 'a very eu coup'. Merkel resigned once she had ensured the Germans had total control of the EU wheel. Tony Benn was right when he argued against joining the EU originally and it's only got worse since.

Thats rude!

There is political power. And US politics in particular have couple of different factions, and the big business wing, is the group that typically promotes its agenda under "rule of law".

Desantis and Disney is a good example of the buisness with its check book getting spanked/reminded that the political class holds its own special abilities. And yes the political class is paid by those who cut the checks.

Take the War in the Ukraine thats not the business classes war. gently caress no one thought it would go down they way its going down. I can already hear people saying "but but MIC!" the war on terror was sponsored by the MIC. But the ukraine war costs more. EU needs the russian energy, The world needs russian and Ukraine Grain, and more. the costs of this war is going to make everything more pricey.

To be more direct the way things are going the cost of doing buisness in general is going to go up. capital is going to cost more, energy is going to cost more. EU states are going to have to spend more for their security etc.

The german ideal was that "hey if we trade alot we ll have a good relationship" that really didnt work out with russia.

I m not really hopeful about the EU. hell your a mod imagine trying to run GBS if it merge in posters from reddit, 4chan, reseteara etc

I'm kinda an rear end in a top hat but I'm taking a lot of pleasure in BlockFi going down, because some dipshit was talking down to me about how you could get 8% APR on stablecoins risk free, and I said "No you can't, you're investing in some sort of product using stablecoins, and that product has risk," to which he responded "Look up BlockFi."

Is a crypto “billionaire” like a major target because you could just kidnap them and get them to transfer all their crypto super fast? Like there are guardrails in place to make this harder for regular currency for kidnapping but wouldn’t it take like two seconds to transfer a huge amount of money from your wallet to your kidnappers?
