I used to love drinking coco (a very popular brand of milk tea in china). Their basic drink is only 1.20$. but then my wife told me the non dairy creamer they used is transfat, and that also goes for pretty much every single milk tea place. I had to cut back, which was really sad.

It's wild seeing how certain states especially the Southern ones and Arizona just dismantled public education.

The largest party didn't win a majority of seats in the last elections and hasn't been able to form a coalition. It looks like new elections will happen have to be called.

The 27th regular meeting of the Russian and Chinese heads of government took place. Main points:

🔺Mikhail Mishustin stressed that Russia and China have similar approaches to many problems of our time. Together they advocate the formation of a multipolar architecture of international relations and are ready to confront emerging challenges and increasing external pressure.

🔺The trade turnover between the countries in the first 10 months of this year has increased by almost a third and reached $150 billion. The energy partnership has acquired a strategic character. Supplies of natural gas, oil and coal are on the rise, and China continues to build nuclear power plants with Russian participation.

🔺The Russian government chairman also noted that investment cooperation is developing. To date, the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental Commission has 79 projects totalling over $160 billion in the areas of mining and processing of minerals, industrial production, construction of infrastructure facilities, and agriculture.

🔺The Russian and Chinese leaders decided to declare 2022 and 2023 the years of cooperation in physical education and sport.

🔺The Russian Prime Minister stressed that illegitimate sanctions, restrictions and political pressure from Western countries are doomed to failure.

🔺Mikhail Mishustin suggested working out options for resuming cultural exchanges between Russia and China, which were interrupted by the pandemic.

🔺Chinese Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang has declared his readiness for full-scale cooperation with Russia. Among the most promising areas for cooperation are trade, culture, education and sports.

🔺Li Keqiang also noted that major joint energy projects, such as the oil pipeline and the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, are being implemented. Cooperation in the space sector has been fruitful. In spite of the consequences of the pandemic, joint actions have made it possible to establish cargo flow. Mutual integration of payment systems is underway.

originally, very pro-government posters on chinese language internet in the xi jinping era, connotationally young and naive, and more drawn to empty patriotism than real commitment to socialism with chinese characteristics as a communist strategy. first term xi wasn't very red by political economic reckoning (second term better), so they were little pinks (in english we have pinkos but in chinese pink, fenhong, is much more clearly a diminutive of red, hong) who spoke like they had the ardor of the old communists but in defense of relatively non-radical stuff. when you see it these days on english language internet it's derogatory toward more broadly pro-government mainlanders, overseas students, etc.; it's largely replaced wumaodang ("fifty cent party," implied to be paid commenters) as an insult because it's clear that a lot more young people are genuinely supportive of the direction the party is turning in and saying that these people, some of whom are relatively rich, are just paid tiny amounts to express their views, is no longer a workable line of attack

for that twitter guy in particular tho i think it's some kinda film reference plus maybe sometimes he literally argues with actual xiaofenhong (in the original sense) from a perspective that's marxist and not aligned with the party but also not opposed to it as a principle the way a lot of those types of guys are. i enjoy his takes

No I'm telling you, Americans literally ordered the seeds from China, forgot about it, then received seeds from China and went to "must be a nefarious communist plot" as their most likely explanation.

It's very difficult, but never underestimate how dumb Americans are.

I have received multiple free little bullshit trinkets included with stuff from Amazon marketplace including, yes, packs of seeds that I did not and would not ever in one million years order. also received metal wire keychain thing (that I love and still use) and a chip clip/magnet

I’m sure plenty of people ordered and forgot but you will get free poo poo along with your purchase from Amazon sometimes hoping for a positive review

people will just order poo poo off amazon on an impulse not noticing that it's shipping to them from shanghai and will take 4-6 weeks. there's not much more to it besides maybe amazon logistics getting hosed mid pandemic and delivering stuff to the wrong people
