I'm weirdly warm. Monday night I couldn't get warm for trying, jacked the heating right up and my living room was 25C. Last night I had the heating on but not as much. Today/tonight warm enough with no heating at all despite it being the coldest night so far (-1C expected to get down to -5C overnight) and my living room is at 19C. Weird... or what?

Jaeluni Asjil posted:On the assumption that kite flying moving BBC to all online is going to cause mega complaining once the hoipolloi get to hear about it, and working on the assumption that 'they' know that, what is the real 'phew they've done something less bad' move they really want to make? It won't be some big bang thing - the over the air TV by aerial.may be but linear TV over multicast IP is already a thing. Plug the old dears' smart TV into the router and they won't notice the difference for a while longer. Worst case linear is strictly less functional than on demand so you can fake the former with like a script built on the latter. And as I say in two decades (one is optimism from the bbc) they will have/need a router anyway. feedmegin fucked around with this message at 00:01 on Dec 8, 2022 |

In terms of why there's a shortage of any given medication -- pharmacies do not get this information as a rule. But the supply chains are just as fragile as every other industry with just as little flex, so a small increase in usage will lead to sudden shortages. And increasing the supply of drugs at the manufacturing end takes months or years. We've seen a lot of antibiotic scripts and there's no increase in supply possible so now there aren't any. It sucks and I cried at work because I am tired of being shouted at. It is not my fault, people. I'm on a tenner an hour. I just work here.

I quite enjoy watching broadcast tv when I'm back at my parents' house, it's nostalgic and reminds me of a time when media consumption was less atomised ...for about half an hour, before I realise that it's 90% unwatchable garbage

It's funny watching broadcast tv at my parents now, it's like being wrapped in a warm fuzzy blanket of Countryfile, antiques shows and 'gentle' comedy-dramas. It's perfect for old people to have on in the background as a reassuring hum while they potter around the house.

The Torygraph is running a story how it's disgraceful that soldiers who are getting paid less than ambulance crews will be forced to cover them over Christmas because of the strikes, not realising that the response was going to be "well the government should pay the soldiers more as well". It is impressive how badly the Tories are misreading the mood of the country at the moment.

All my mates who joined the navy had living expenses low enough that they were able to buy houses when they got kicked out for shenanigans. Not nice living on a ship but any worse than an 18 year old's first flat? It is cold today.
