Since we're talking about DS Castlevanias you might wanna know about one of my favorite uses for these handhelds, the dsvania randomizer: https://github.com/LagoLunatic/dsvrandom/releases It's pretty amazing as far as randomizers go - map rando, equipment scaling based on the critical path so you don't just find amazing drops early and plow through everything, scavenger mode which disables enemy drops so you have to use whatever equipment you find lying around. Any fan of the DS Vanias owes it to themselves to check it out.

That’s 100% exactly what I wanted a month ago but now that I’ve got my RP3+ set up I can’t imagine jumping back to another handheld. It’s gone above my expectations as far as comfort, interface and quality goes. I like it so much I’m actually playing video games on it.

If it supports quick resume I would get one. Miyoo mini out of stock all the time probably because they don't have a lot of 2.8" screen in the warehouse.

I'm finally actually playing games on one of these instead of just configuring them. If a version of OnionOS comes out for the Anbernic Mini I might snag it as a smaller option. My Miyoo Mini is cool and OnionOS is fantastic but it's just way too small to comfortably hold.

The new Anbernic looks good, somewhere between a Miyoo Mini and a full-sized deal, but the CFW on the Miyoo Mini does a lot of heavy lifting and I like both OnionOS and MiniUI far more than the various EmuElec variations every Anbernic seems to get.Rolo posted:I like it so much I’m actually playing video games on it. If I understand it properly, the RP3+ should be usable as a straight up console, right? HDMI and Bluetooth would do it. Could I just plug it into a TV and go to town?

Noted! I'm usually 10ft or less from my Switch docked and I don't notice any lag, so if it can do that much I'll be happy. It'd be enough to stick it on stand tate style to play shmups with a controller tbh.

Reviews are coming up for the 35XX and people are dumping on the OS. Apparently it doesn’t let you change settings like aspect ratio and scaling, forcing stuff like GBA to 4:3. Also you can’t alter the chosen stock shaders and even simple stuff like SNES has issues like game music playing too fast. I've got 4, shamefully enough (not counting my hacked 2DS XL), but for me I tend to stick with one device at a time for a long while. Right now I'm all about the 353m but I could also see myself switching back to the 503 awhile for the bigger screen. If I do that I just drag the roms and saves over. Of course I'm super-minimalist when it comes to my games so at most I only have 100 games on a device. I tend to stick to what I know I'm actually going to play.

I have 2 (Steam Deck+351P) but I don't feel the need to put the older 2D stuff on the Deck so the 351 gets those, usually GBA games since that's what I bought it for.

I have a steam deck, miyoo mini, hacked 3ds xl, and a 351p and they all make me so happy! To be honest I don’t really use the 351p at all anymore but it was my first foray into this hobby
