Continuing to tweak the Aero control shell while I wait to open up Wave or Magneto or some other key card for the meta decks. \quote:# (2) Daredevil Something I’ve learned while playing is that while “Tempo” in the traditional CCG sense doesn’t exist in this game, tempo shows up as managing priority order. And in control decks, you actually want to be ahead more often than not on the board. Because being ahead means that your effects go off before theirs and that matters a lot for shutting down Wong, Carnage, Odin, etc. This is quite different from control in, say, Hearthstone which spends most of the game behind and then exhausts the opponent and wins. Here, you want to be ahead and then definitively disrupt their big final turn. This makes Shang-Chi a hard card to include, since it wants to come from behind (they need to reveal for you to destroy). But sometimes to get behind, the 3 power + destruction isn’t enough to win the lane. It makes Killmonger a little bit tricky for the same reason. But there are enough proactive Killmonger plays that it’s fine. Same challenge for Rogue which I am experimenting with. I don’t think she’s worth the 3/1. The big Ongoings come late so you need to be behind to steal them and then she’s not a big enough stat swing. Plus Cosmo exists which prevents her and you often are working on a lane with multiple Ongoing cards so then it’s a matter of luck. Lastly, many Ongoing abilities are synergies (who cares if you steal their Patriot if you don’t have and cards) or symmetrical like Armor. So I think I’m going back to Enchantress. Maybe there are two kinds of control, slow control which depends on revealing second and fast control which depends on revealing ahead. Sera seems like a key card for slow control. Allowing you to suddenly drop a huge pile of utility and stats from behind. — I was trying a version of this deck without She Hulk, but being able to pull ahead on turn 4 by putting down 10 stats while preserving utility 3 drops has been really useful for seizing tempo. I am often skipping 1 and 3 but still able to reveal first on 5 and 6.

Strange interaction here that I guess is good to know but doesn't quite add up for me: The power swings inflicted by Hazmat are Ongoing effects and can apparently be removed by Luke Cage's Ongoing (this make sense, your cards' power cannot be reduced) and inflicted back on your team if stolen by Rogue. Maybe it's the MTG brain in me thinking of these as -1 counters but it feels weird to have my entire team immune to the On Reveal during my Reveal phase, then immediately suffer it anyways after the Ongoing is stolen. I guess Hazmat's modifiers to cards exist on the board kind of like a location that says "-3 to cards played here" Zodack fucked around with this message at 00:50 on Dec 11, 2022 |

I feel like there's a totally different pool of players on weekends rather than weekdays. None of my decks work with anywhere near consistency on weekends and I get big timed often. My largest cube slides happen then.

I would probably swap out Uatu for something like Agent 13, and then Mr Fantastic for something else better Warpath to me seems like a very limited use card since it's going to really limit your options of play.

Angela's a power player and a great utility card in a lot of decks. She's an easy 2/6 if you always fill the lane. Definitely drop Uatu, he's just not worthwhile. I suggest Ant Man because I like Ant Man (another if you fill the lane, you're getting great value for 1 cost). But if you're doing that, you already have a lot of ongoing and it would be worthwhile to also drop maybe Nightcrawler and add Spectrum. This would give you a pair of 6 drops in case one doesn't land in your hand so you're not dead dropping 5 hoping for the lucky Infinaut drop.

I dunno Warpath seems pretty awesome to me? I sometimes don’t even play cards in the other two locations until I’ve locked that first one down. Sunspot - Lizard - Storm - then Warpath as they scramble to compete/nerf Lizard before it gets locked. But yeah he’s not crucial.

warpath is one of the cards that makes your opponent have to think a bit about whether or not you're bluffing, and i put a decent amount of stock into any card like that given how central the snap mechanic is

im extremely not butthurt, and caremad, because I dropped Wong+rogue after sera turn 6 and thought I would get both blue marvel and Kazar but only got one, and so lost to a stupid ultron zoo deck, when I also had iron heart in my hand and would have easily won if i just dropped her instead

Surfer is really good and I don’t even have brood yet Also he’s fun because there’s a bunch of different types of 3 cost cards so I can sorta mix up the deck, definitely keeps things fresher than the turn 6 kazoo play that was my other very effective deck

I did it. This is peak Infinaut - one card played on the first turn and the other on the last turn. There's no way I can beat this. I might have to change to a different deck now.  Of course the opponent snapped straight away on turn 6. It actually ended up pretty close - I can't remember how many times Ironheart triggered, but I was clenching for a second there.
