Looks like it'll be on the 5th DVD. I choose not to dwell on the implication the DVDs are 2 eps each.

It's impressive how faithful they are to the BG ref. You can see a 1:1 ... thingy for some of the stickers.

It continues to astound me just how absolutely dead on target Bocchi's thought processes and mannerisms are in portraying someone dealing with social anxiety, comic exaggerations aside. The way it never punches down to make a mockery of her struggles while at the same time not holding back in portraying just how self-destructive it can be makes the whole thing all too real.

The smash cut from Bocchi overhearing her classmates to nearly turning in the form at the beginning of the episode got the biggest laugh out of me yet.

Continues to be very good.

For me it was her rolling around her bedroom and slamming her head three times on furniture lol

Starry is a real place too, with a different name of course. I can't find any images of the venue when searching but I know I saw it on a youtube video at some point.

also fun note, the characters on eliza's keychain were the protagonists of another kirara manga/anime, slow loop. likewise bocchi and keisoku band cameo'd in slow loop episode 10 (before bocchi's anime started airing)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1sXkfo8--g&t=1s

It seems like the authors of the original manga are friends, since they've done streams together.

i enjoyed it, but true to its name its pretty grounded. its about fishing, but its also about like, quiet connections to lost loved ones. the protagonist's dad died a few years before the start of the series and the other girl's mom died, they become stepsiblings, they learn to connect without having to replace their lost family members, that kinda thing. its not super moody or anything but its quieter than bocchi. more yuru camp if youve seen that one.

S'alright. It could be better, but there's nothing objectionable or really bad about it. It's slow and low stakes and fun being very much a tried and true High School Girls With Hobbies show where the hobby this time is fishing. There's plenty of fishing facts and trivia and details, one of the leads makes weird goofy puns all the time, the cast is medium to large and fun (though sadly not super memorable), and it's a very chill and enjoyable show. There's some interesting ideas in the relationship between the leads as they ended up as step-sisters after their widowed parents remarried each other, but that's not really focused on and the emotional texture related to that is held at a distance, it's more of a background thing than a center of the story or the characters.

Basically it's Yurucamp if Rin and Nadeshiko were step-sisters and also they went fishing and if it was a bit less good than that sounds. I'm not trying to rag on it it since I like it, but it isn't Bocchi levels good so don't expect it to go near as hard if you do watch it, which you should. It's fun.

Late to the party on this one, but stair climbing bit in episode 9 definitely reminded me of a certain scene from Trainspotting:

Kita: Doesn't it make you proud to be Japanese?
Bocchi: IT'S SHITE BEING JAPANESE

It was only for a second, but I'm glad we got visual confirmation that Nijika's sister knows how to do a Shun Goku Satsu. I know it's been a subject of heated debate, so I'm glad the show put it to rest.

Also it's funny, this is essentially just an episode of the band hanging out, but it feels way more earned and impactful that we have it now after seeing Bocchi crawl forward for the last 10 episodes. It was heartwarming she actually managed to have fun in the real world, and it's a nice contrast after her immediate attempt at escapism went south.

Good episode. The directing team has done wonders for this series. They even managed to make an early joke in the manga that retroactively felt really out of character work by having Ryo saying it instead.

Bocchi's magical spell, the two Fist of the North Star guys and the weird shift to super crude Blender models were probably the jokes of the episode for me.

The original reference was to the various gang thugs in Fist of the North Star. But if Mad Max is the more well known post-apocalyptic setting in your region it probably works okay as an alternative.
