Majorian posted:They were all obsessed with keeping things peaceful and legal, so they were shockingly completely ineffective. The mentality was that getting violent to oppose wars was worse than not opposing the war at all. It was a very stupid time. So it doesn't matter how many molotov cocktails you throw at cops. Or, well, it matters, but for your personal high score, not because it helps or hinders the War Effort(TM)

Going by the liberal propaganda about this war the only real anti-war movement are the draft dodgers and family members helping conscripts hide and run away.

It is clear that from a Russian perspective progress is being made but if the Russians commit they are going to need a 3 to 1 advantage across at least the major axises they are attacking. It seems that tank deliveries are indicating that eventually some type of more major push would happen. I would say at least that interview does show that this thread isn’t as outside as the mainstream thought in military circles as assumed. The Russians’ true mistake was assuming the US under Biden was going to honestly negotiate with them and this major miscalculation born out of the fact that many of Putin’s advisors were still HSE/Western trained liberals. The Russians never engaged the bulk of their force (they said 20%) and that Kharkov at least was semi-intentional etc. There was some surprising praise for the NLAW over the Javelin.

Lostconfused posted:Aslo I guess there's things happening in Serbia? Yeah, the Kosovars send 300 cops into the north without permission of local authorities which in turn has now been met with barricades by locals and now promises of Serbian peacekeepers being sent. Recently, there almost a peace deal that would have resulted in a land swap from both sides and now "for some reason" Pristina is pressing on their Serbian minorities. That said, I don't think NATO is really in shape for an intervention against Serbia, and hitting them with sanctions is going to derail any sort of EU ascension (which seems the West would want). If this is a way to pressure the Russians...it is well idiotic and would force the hand of a country that was only rather mildly on the Russian/Chinese side to turn completely over. Tankbuster posted:well the NLAW was the untested rookie on the block and never had to live up to the expectations of the Javelin. Yeah, I haven't heard it doing exceptionally better than the Javelin besides that it is lighter. I guess that is fine but honestly tripod mounted missiles in ambush positions seem to do fine. Obviously, handheld ATGMs are obviously about tank panic, but according to the SA forums they are a do all one shot tank killer from Modern Warfare 2 and at no point are you allowed to challenge forum consensus so that is that. I’m not sure if I believe they have enough to do an actual massive swoop down from Belarus like he suggests

He cites 190,000 which would be reasonable. I think the issue isn’t that the Russians can’t assemble a force but they would be willing to go in an all out attack or simply hope the US will be easy on them.
