Satin tower if you want to do each deck separately with their tokens and dice, a pair of Watchtower XLs if you want to have them two at a time.

Also a fan of satin towers here. A bit bulky overall but nice. I've been considering getting a Quiver for carrying multiple decks though.

I figured I'd get individual ones since these are for the 4 commander decks I bought (warham) but I suppose I could see bringing two at once

I am a big fan of the sidewinders. The sidewinder 100 should be about the best deck box you can spend money on if you don't need it to hold anything but your deck. Its maybe the best deck box ever made IMO. When it comes to any magic accessories, ultimate guard is kind of the best at about everything. I hate being a brand homer, but about every product they make is maybe best in class.

Considering building mono U spirits for pioneer, since it is cheap and I like that sort of play pattern. Will I be able to compete, or is it too budget?

Wizards running a promotion in Japan; every 10 packs you buy from your LGS you get a mini-poster (three posters if you buy a box) that has a chance to have a golden ticket in them that wins you one of these 60 plaques drawn and signed by Junji Ito.

So I bought poo poo just to funnel my fun money their way. It was an interesting idea for a set, I do love Kaiju, but it didn't resonate as well as I'd hoped. At least I got a Space Godzilla, Death Corona!

Companions would be pretty cool if they were stronger archetypes and with the original text, but crucially had been only limited to, well, limited play environments (and I guess commander) It's a really neat idea for a draft environment, and it'd be a really cool format to basically have each deck be required to have a companion. Maybe every pack has one and you always take it + a card first? Edit: actually that reminds me that towards the end of Dominaria we did some like.. I guess you'd call them commander drafts? Where you could only play cards in the colors of one of the legendary creatures you had opened or been passed. It was a ton of fun (and uh.. definitely higher variance sometimes) Weird Pumpkin fucked around with this message at 22:04 on Dec 14, 2022 |

Companions and the profusion of cycling 1 both felt like the kind of errors WotC's design team don't normally make. And it has to be said I think the design team is actually pretty loving good most of the time

In hindsight I’m not sure the companions were that cool for limited after the first few t”goes with them. 1) the restrictions were so warping you usually couldn’t go all in unless you saw them pack one 2) They were just build arounds like most others, except entirely proscriptive about how to go about it, and very ‘loud’ since you saw them every game. 3) they ran out of cool ones after like 4 or 5

It's wild to me to think anyone could put Ikoria above like, DMU or NEO. Both just absolute bangers of formats. IKO isn't like, the worst draft set that has been on arena but it's mid at best. Mutate was fine but ended up not being anything to really write home about, Companions in the draft format were garbage after the rule change, and the cycling deck ruling the day just made for a boring stale experience pretty quick imo

Fuzzy Mammal posted:In hindsight I’m not sure the companions were that cool for limited after the first few t”goes with them. Yeah this is why I think it'd be an interesting idea for a draft format, but you'd have to ensure that every single pack has at least one and that you cover a wide variety of colors and archetypes For what it's worth, Triple OG Innistrad is still the best limited format I've ever played, and I'm honestly not sure how you could dethrone it

Ikoria draft started out fine, became horrible once people found the cycling deck, and then became fine again once enough people knew about it that you'd have multiple people fighting over it. I'm not sure it was ever a great format though.

I quite like Ikoria's look and vibe, though they probably could have done more with it, I don't even recall what the story was. Attack On Titan-influenced humans vs monsters was neat, except it doesn't mechanically work well with other sets where there are humanoids other than humans.
