Didn't Jericho literally refer to him as a jobber in the prematch promo??

Very, very weird booking, but I have to admit that I was pretty hooked as a result, and the match was ultimately alright. What was built up as merely a mindless jobber match for Jericho to bounce back from after losing the ROH World Title -- which I and I'm sure many of us assumed was just a way for Jericho to look strong and then kickstart a new angle or a continued angle with Claudio and the BCC -- turned into a default "star performance" from Andretti. I put that in quote marks because it's only on paper that Andretti resembled a star, since his performance itself really wasn't that impressive in the grand scheme of things. It was only the case that he looked impressive only based on us all assuming he was just another generic jobber. That's not to say that his work wasn't still decent, since he looked quite comfortable with all his energetic, agile, and high-flying offence, but it was mostly the crowd's ironic support of him (which turned into genuine support as Andretti endured longer and longer) that made him appear as exciting as he was. As for Jericho, he was his usual unathletic and brawl-based self (the latter attempting to make up for the former), but to his credit he did well with his shocked facial expressions to highlight how impressive Andretti's endurance was. Andretti's hope spots were all pretty endearing, especially as the crowd got behind him more and more, but that still never convinced me that I was actually watching any sort of great match. It's definitely pretty random that of all the people on the AEW roster, Andretti was the one to get this massive debut rub with the shock win over Jericho. Was this all just to kickstart a "JAS breaking apart" story? Or do AEW genuinely believe Andretti is a future star? Andretti doesn't strike me as anyone with any serious star qualities, at least not based on that performance, so I can only imagine that this was the equivalent of Shawn Dean defeating MJF, and almost entirely done just for the sake of developing Jericho's next storyline rather than serving Andretti in any major way. Maybe I'll be proven wrong though. ***

A wrestler was over with the crowd, had great moves, and was endearing to me, the viewer. I'm also very excited to see what happens next week and will be tuning in to watch.

0/10, terrible debut, I can't believe Tony Khan bungled this guy so bad into the thing I just made up in my head.

I also like how subjective some of it is. You can easily make an AEW bingo card that'd be pretty fun but "garbage wrestler" and "unnecessary gimmick match" are too opinion-based. There wasn't even a gimmick match last night, one was announced for next week and it's completely in line with the story!

That's why he checked Unnecessary Gimmick Match and not Gimmick Match! It's unnecessary because it isn't happening this week and has a storyline to explain why it is happening.

Also Zach Arnold had an even more mind boggling tweet the day before that no one noticed because no one reads anything he says.

Smart Mark Sterling is evil, he trademarks things and sues wrestlers for greedy purposes.
The Wrestling Gimmick Trademark Lawyer seems nice, he trademarks stuff for people in the AEWverse which was one of the signs Sasha might be AEW bound as she used him.
Stephen P. New is in the Cornette orbit but might be the least evil guy in that orbit. He worked at least one Speaking Out related case although it didn't seem like he gave much of a discount. But he did it and got it resolved so good for him.

I don't appreciate being told what to do, I did forget him and I stand by my memory.

But yes if anyone was wondering why that lawyer was so unprofessional: Riddle seem to exclusively hook up with, get supplied by and gain legal representation from people he meets at indie or NXT house shows.

Smart wrestling fans are wise to Chris Jericho’s nefarious scheme of “using his popularity to work entertaining programs with wrestlers he thinks are talented” — all just to ensure he remains popular!

If Jericho were really as selfless as he wanted you to believe, he’d lose every match he was in and only wrestle people who aren’t popular at all. (Uhhh, but not the way he did last night…that was bad because he decided to do something interesting on a card where other matches were happening, therefore undermining those matches…)
