Okay, I'm sure the FAA would be highly interested in hearing that he's disabled the legally-mandated transponder data on the plane.

So uh, what flight is Musky upset people know about? If he really is turning off his transponder, that's real interesting.

He taking some trips the government would be interested in?

i think what elon is getting at (but not actually explaining) is that the movements of plane N628TS are public but the fact that N628TS is his plane isn't a matter of public record, it's officially owned by some shell company

so it should be totally fine to make a @N628TS account as long as it doesn't name elon anywhere

Elon is gonna demand the pilots switch off the transponder on his next flight, leading to a surprise visit from two F18s who he will immediately try to ban because he considers autopilot to be a bot

It kind of is public record, though. You can look up the registration number with the FAA: https://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/Search/NNumberResult?NNumberTxt=N628TS

And then look up Falcon Landings LLC: https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_ca/201113110103

I'm being cheeky, because there are two ways to read the tweet: there's no public data because he's no longer broadcasting the mandated data, or he's lying his rear end off. I'll leave it to you to decide which activity he's engaging in.

NBC News are the people who took massive efforts to protect and cover up for Harvey Weinstein and did everything they could to kill the story when Ronan Farrow was working it for them. This is what they do.

NBC is the guy who actually drops his gun here.

I mean if there ever was a situation where you'd think a news company would be unafraid of standing by their journalists it would be something as clear cut as this, but I guess there's always one.

Well, two: the NYT also told their reporter(s) to cool it on criticizing Musk, but I know what you mean. I can't imagine being this tone deaf. I hope that Collins protests this and continues his mockery of Musk, but I'm not terribly confident of that happening (not because I think Collins is a coward but I've seen scenarios like this play out enough that I know it rarely works out that way).

This whole dumbfuck event got me to sign up for Mastodon but the server splitting seems really unintuitive. Like I got pretty quickly how to visit someone elses page on a separate server while logged in, but A: a shitton of people are not gonna be able to figure out why when they go to 'mastodon.social/@buttfarts' having signed up on a different server, they are logged out and their settings aren't saved etc. And B: even as someone who figured it out, the extra steps between 'clicking a Mastodon link to a different server (which is gonna be like every single link)' and 'having the ideal user experience' just seems like too many hoops to bother going through. Am I missing something about this or is it as much of a usability hell as it seems?

I imagine there must be an extension or something that automatically redirects you to your appropriate server URL for whatever page you want to view right? The syntax is simple, and the main reason Mastodon can't do it is because when you register on server A and then open a server B link, server B has no way of knowing you're registered on any other server. Which is half the point of Mastodon but god drat is it annoying as gently caress to use.
