Kellies Nomination: Least Concealed Bigotry (Anti-Semitism)

I remember people whining about how we live in a victim culture back in the 90s. Then I remember reading how we live in a victim culture rather than an heroic culture from Nietzsche. And I bet he borrowed it from some Classical Antiquity guy because Evola and a bunch of other fascists who pretended they had an original thought definitely did borrow it from a mishmash of Nietzsche and some Athenian douches.

Get a new complaint, whiners!

While it isn't as clearly anti-Semitic as that time he drew a ghoulish George Soros literally puppet mastering US leadership, the bloody handed "Great Reset" and billionare buddies are pretty strongly if less blatantly coded in that direction. Frankly, for Garrison I'd say it's a bit on the tamer side given his usual fare.

That's not right

quote:

Ted Rall for CenterClip coming at you from the left. The Twitter Files. Nothingburger? No, they're a big somethingburger.

So, in case you've missed it, Elon Musk leaked to my old colleague and friend, Matt Taibi, all the internal memos and text messages, emails and so on that concern the release of the censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story originally reported by the New York Post. The censorship was wide-ranging. Not only was the article blocked from Twitter, the New York Post website was itself blocked from Twitter completely, so all other New York Post news was inaccessible, and even direct messages on Twitter that were exchanged privately offline were also blocked if they contained any reference to the Hunter Biden New York Post story.

This is very disturbing news for those of us who care about freedom of expression and you can even argue that it's a first amendment case because the DNC, representing future President Joe Biden, sort-of a government entity, basically asked Twitter to censor the New York Post, a media organisation, and it did, so it's sort-of a censorship by proxy first amendment case, although I don't think many courts would agree but certainly we should all be concerned. Does this matter? Is this a big deal? Sure it is, and here's why. The DNC personally reached out to Twitter. That should never be possible. Neither political party nor any political figure should have any contact whatsoever with a media organisation or a social media network, there's no reason for that to ever happen - there's no good reason for it, and it always ends up in tears, as it did here. The DNC asked the Twitter top executives to basically cancel the New York Post story and they agreed to do so. Facebook did the same thing and it probably went down exactly the same way.

On the right, people are furious. Those of us on the left, we should be furious, too, even if it makes our President look bad.

The person in the cartoon saying the Twitter Files aren't a big deal is drawn with fangs, in front of a sign reading "Privile Elites"

I did wonder what that was about, because on face value having a School of Science after Doctor Grain Pyramids is a bit weird and hogwarts-ish, but I figured it was somehow just being lovely and petty about someone other than Ben Carson, so that makes sense.

The school was named for Crockett originally, then it got changed in 2011 to honor Ben Carson. Since at that point in time he was just a respected neurosurgeon with an inspiring rags to riches story that was inspirational for black kids. Once he got picked for Trump's housing secretary that's when the name change requests started popping up at the school board, and they increased when he started going "Housing discrimination is good, actually" throughout the administration.

The name change was based on a survey of employees, students, alumni and people who lived in the community, who overwhelmingly supported the name change with 80% approving of it (although only 41% of students approved). So yeah, this isn't even "The evil tyrannical school board changed the name against everyone's wishes because they are evil liberals," it's "The vast majority of people living there don't like that dude and so the school board is following their recommendation."

Because it's protectionist. That's not necessarily bad, things like linking green subsidies to home production can reduce emissions and modernize production, but China sees it as erecting trade barriers.
