It wouldn’t surprise me even a little if the trend toward blonde wasn’t more pronounced in recent years. It might be out of date, but in 2017 or 18 or so a group of Ukrainians at a cultural event were explaining that brunette or very dark brunette were the preferred aesthetic. or just generically copying US trends, which massively over-emphasizes blondness.
