In the comics books soon after CoIE happens they establish the Wayne fortune was built upon war profiteering.

The Telltale game also does this where Thomas Wayne was a friend of the mob, and had people drugged and institutionalized in Arkham so he could steal their land.

Due to studio interference, the story now ends with Scrooge defeating the spirits of Christmas and using their unique time travelling abilities to save the Earth from imps. Tiny Tim is now a comedic sidekick played by Kevin Hart. There's a whole gag about him getting upset whenever someone calls him tiny, it's gold.

Joker is entirely about this. Thomas Wayne is arguably the main antagonist.

I took OP's meaning to be the ending where Ryan Reynolds dies and takes Will Ferrell's place, specifically, not the part where it's a pretty standard redemption story.

if any of you liked Fleabag, I Hate Suzie season 2/christmas special, is really similar vibes. it's a welcome addition to the British sitcom subgenre of "20 to 40 something woman in the UK is sad"

my rankings:
1. Fleabag
2. Catastrophe
3. I Hate Suzie
4. This Side Up
5. Starstruck

there's the batman: white knight continuity where joker falls into a vat of adderall and turns into bernie sanders. it features batman literally being sat down by the gotham deep state where they explain that they only support him as far as beating up street dealers to keep real estate prices stable

also batman: the impostor (by the writer of the new movie) where bruce wayne is a born sociopath protected from the consequences of his actions by his wealth, and his legend is instantly destroyed the second a maga cop goes on a killing spree dressed like him

This sounds cool. The Harley Quinn cartoon also does the Joker developing into a socialist arc, but it's obviously more comedic.

The Telltale Batman games get into this where it turns out Thomas Wayne was super mobbed up and used his Hospital and Arkham to commit and torture Falcone’s enemies to death. In the end, Bruce Wayne continues being Batman not to avenge his parents, but out of guilt for what his family has done to Gotham

it probably works decent cause the violent night rip was done in 15 minutes. however it was a lovely experience cause the audio track kept desyncing and there were 2-3 moments where the picture froze but the audio kept playing.

in this one Penguin’s origin story is that the Waynes bankrupted his family, pushed his father to suicide, and then fraudulently institutionalized his mother so they could steal their land

behold, the forbidden minute
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lD3c--x1Qs

quote:

Some viewers who caught the first round of Heritage Minutes on television in 1991 have a hazy memory of a spot that focused on Canadian peacekeepers. It never appeared in VHS or DVD collections and when Historica Canada inherited the Heritage Minute master tapes, the “lost” Minute was not included. We recently uncovered a single VHS tape containing the legendary spot. “Lester B. Pearson” (variously called “Cyprus” and “Peacekeepers”) was released in 1991 alongside the pilot Minutes and other classics like “Halifax Explosion” and “Superman.” The Minute was soon pulled because of historically inaccurate costume details discovered during the post-production process. As well, the Turkish ambassador to Ottawa complained the Minute treated his country unfairly, though the producers have said this was not a factor in the decision to pull it from circulation.
