Just closed out Christmas by watching Glass Onion. Fun movie, cool visuals, entertaining twists and turns even if most of them were red herrings (which is to be expected). Ed Norton was great, Monae and Craig did well too. I thought the extended flashback sequence was way too long, but my wife disagreed with me on it. I was able to immediately and correctly gut-guess the mystery solution the moment poo poo started going down, but I guess in the end that's the point? Best character was Darryl, that guy was just vibes all the way through. The one thing that's bothering me is the ending. Burning the Mona Lisa absolutely would not kill the miracle fuel. If you set a bunch of gasoline on fire right next to the Mona Lisa, that'll burn the Mona Lisa too. But that doesn't mean nobody uses gasoline. Everybody knows flammable fuel is flammable, and we still use it. Same with a nuclear reaction. Hell, same with coal. That doesn't really prove anything. Looked fun though. Also I guess now in Knives Out canon, however many more of these movies they make, the Mona Lisa is canonically destroyed, so that's fun too.

Take him inviting a bunch of people over, then blowing up his house with the same poo poo he was supposed to show them, set up a suicide, and also had dead "friend" at the island, with his other "friends" testifying against him (and one handsome detective to establish credibility since everyone else perjured themselves), then the fact he established a switch that would override the security. Just an entire shitstorm that he can't get out of techncially. Which is probably going to be the theme of the next knives outs if Rian continues to go for lovely capitalists. Not only must he solve a mystery but also figure out how justice is found

I did take minor issue with how the movie was set in a specific time period, 2020, but had a completely ahistorical destruction of the world's most famous painting but Quentin Tarantino rewrote history for the endings of his movies so whatever. I guess I'm just slightly annoyed with any story that involves people having the totally real Mona Lisa but I gave it a pass simply because the whole movie was consistently entertaining.
