I imagine there are more difficult place than this to moderate. I would suppose that even in modmail there are endless back and forths over which tack is best for a particular issue . Most decisions are unpopular amongst some constituency or another, admins will punish the whole community for perceived inaction by mods, and so you really are in a situation where you have to do what you can without overplaying your hand.

On guidelines for another type of Moderator, it’s said "...that diocesan structures should always be at the service of the good of souls and that administrative demands should not take precedence over the care of persons. Therefore, he should see that the operation is smooth and efficient, avoiding all unnecessary complexity or bureaucracy, and always directed towards its proper supernatural end."

You may have to change out some words or another, but if the purpose of CSPAM is discussion that guides people towards felt and practiced leftism, sometimes you do have to prioritize the message being delivered over administration that’s popular.

Imagine moderating a subforum that’s made up of Chapo, Cum Town and Red Scare fans, then MDE refugees, then The Donald refugees, etc. that’s the state a lot of left subs are in, so yeah moderating can suck, I can see that.

Yeah, Russia and Ukraine both at least claim to trace their ancestry back to the Varangians (led by Rurik).

Much like every Mongol is a direct descendant of Genghis Khan, everyone in Europe traces their lineage back to vikings.

Everyone wants to be cool by proxy. Actual reality if we did enough genetic research may not match up but its more about the t-shirt logo, so to speak.

Russia's also been intercepting rocket and missile ammunition over the course of the war though it's mostly been noted mostly in MoD blurbs and not caught on video often.

Ukraine does have the advantage of PR companies and endless social media campaigns (amplified by bots) to make every single hit that makes it through look like the apocalypse even when damage inflicted can be repaired/replaced over time however.

Yeah, if anything most drones are intercepted all the time and it doesn't come up very much because what is there to say? Recently, several waves of drones were intercepted in Crimea, you can argue it may not have been a cost-efficient trade but air defense does work. Also, to be fair, while I don't think the Ukrainians intercept most of the drones/missiles that cross over, they absolutely do have their own AD and they do hit as much as they can; you have to give them some credit. There is a bit too much hype on both sides.

I would say with the issue with both Kiev/Engels is that it is just very easy to slip a drone at low altitude across the border and for it to slip by radar until it shows up to the actual defenses around the location. You can't defend everything, everywhere.

It also shows some of the motivations by the Russians by the fact they don't they need at least to consolidate control over Eastern Ukraine in order to create a buffer zone to minimize both drones (and more importantly) conventional/nuclear decapitation strikes.

Yeah, from what I recall it's mostly been disproven through lots of genetic testing. But hey, fun story.

The Viking Age lasted in total only 270 years. Each of the countries affected has been Christian for at least three times as long. If we look at them 270 years ago, in 1750, they were Viking or Pagan in no way shape or form. I mean, to the point of it being comical to consider. So, why not create an entire identity around that? They were even at war with Russia.

The reason is that Christianity is too Jewish for this kind of white nationalism and all of the make believe bullshit and howling at the moon comes after the “runic” symbols and belief in “ancestry” which is just Nazi iconography and blood and soil dressed up to provide a veneer of legitimacy.

lol the Vikings won their greatest glories after conversion to Christianity anyways, it’s all so stupid.

quote:

Europeans probably became aware of Greenland's existence in the early 10th century, after Gunnbjörn Ulfsson, while sailing from Norway to Iceland, was blown off course by a storm and sighted some islands off Greenland. During the 980s explorers led by Erik the Red set out from Iceland and reached the southwest coast of Greenland. They found the region uninhabited, and subsequently settled there. Erik named the island "Greenland" (Grœnland in Old Norse, Grænland in modern Icelandic, Grønland in modern Danish and Norwegian). Both the Book of Icelanders and the Saga of Eric the Red state that Erik said that “it would encourage people to go there that the land had a good name."[8]

According to the sagas, the Icelanders had exiled Erik the Red for three years for committing murder,[10] c. 982. He sailed to Greenland, where he explored the coastline and claimed certain regions as his own. He then returned to Iceland to persuade people to join him in establishing a settlement on Greenland. The Icelandic sagas say that 25 ships left Iceland with Erik the Red in 985, and that only 14 of them arrived safely in Greenland.

honestly i wouldn't even put it that far since a nationalistic reasoning makes it seem noble. just existing power centers moving to protect their interest. the rules of the game changed but in the end the near person is always going to work quicker than the far one in exploiting a situation.
