It also shows some of the motivations by the Russians by the fact they don't they need at least to consolidate control over Eastern Ukraine in order to create a buffer zone to minimize both drones (and more importantly) conventional/nuclear decapitation strikes. despite what you might learn from crusader kings there's never been any discovery of anything runic in ukraine and basically all of the viking influence had been stamped out of the states rulers by the time they actually made kiev the capital. this is all like Romanians becoming obsessed with panturkism because of the Tepes turkic ancestry. the connecting thread is gossamer thin
