One thing I'd also add is that when considering the Mutoh retirement tour matches in the last week (the other being the NOAH one, obv.), the 6-man, IMO, was much better than the match with Nakamura. I'm sure the Nakamura v. Muta match is OK in a vacuum, but I felt that it really suffered as a result of its placing on the card, especially since it immediately followed a banger of a match between Kiyomiya and Kenoh. Compared to that, the LIJ v. Mutoh, Tana and Shooter match moved at a brisk pace, didn't expose how immobile Mutoh really is by getting Tana and Shooter do the heavy lifting for their side, and was a perfectly undemanding length. loving hell. edogawa rando fucked around with this message at 09:33 on Jan 5, 2023 |

JESUS gently caress Skipped ahead and watched the Ospreay-Omega match. It speaks to both of them (Probably more to the former) that an extended part was basically Homer Simpson vs Drederick Tatum and still remains compelling. Just need to watch the 4 way and the main event. EDIT: Also, on that Karl Anderson match: Did he gently caress up selling his own finisher? Like I can watch him and say yep that dude is a loving God in wrestling objectively, but I feel absolutely nothing watching him. I thought the story told in the main event was pretty compelling tbh, and the ending made total sense for it. Jay had spent the pandemic mocking the crowd for not cheering, and then continued trying to do that today but it got in his head. Like the commentary said, he wasn’t in control of the situation for once, and he paid the price.

Jay mocking the crowd for not being able to cheer was just setting up Okada's powers being boosted by the crowd's noise, it's a clear story of pride coming before a fall
