this 2-year anniversary marks one of the most traumatizing moments in this nation's history. may we never forget what transpired on this horrible day, and that Democracy ultimately prevailed.

on jan6 i had a late work meeting at 8pm and i canceled it because i told everyone the state of our democracy was too fragile for such trivialities. everyone agreed, but i really was in the middle of replaying botw and just didn't want to have a meeting at 8pm

Jan 6th was like 911 for a lot of americans. I remember it was a slow day at work so I got paid to watch the whole thing happen and I was the first one to post the It's happening! ron paul gif and I got empty quoted like 100 times and that felt good but I was surprised that only one lady got shot. I thought it was going to be a bloodbath with all of those guns but it was just a bunch of frat boy antics and horsing around and then the energy slowly died and people started to walk away as they got bored. Cool and funny event but it had a boring ending.

speng31b posted:same was true on 911 tbh. kids don't know how to react to stuff they see on tv that's supposed to be important news until someone tells them Oh yeah. Lots of kids below late high school don't have the processing/experiential capacity to attach a lot of weight to events like Jan 6th or 9/11, so they model the behavior of adults and use those to guide their responses. I mean, lots of adults clearly also don't have the skills to process big political events, but expecting a child to do so is begging to be disappointed.

it's very apocryphal but I choose to believe the story that when he tazered his nuts he pissed himself, which conducted the electricity to lethal levels

The best part of remembering Jan 6 is every time someone posts something online about Ashli Babbitt being a victim of it, the get ratio-ed into oblivion by "I'm glad she is dead, she deserved it."
