Oh my darlings, how strong you have been! So many hours ago we started with 75 games and bit by bit we have chipped away at that number until now only two remain. To my left we have the heir apparent, the predestined winner, the heavy favourite, Elden Ring. To my right facing off against this titan we have the underdog, the plucky upstart, the one with nothing to lose, Pentiment. Will the result go the way everyone expected or can rope kid, on his home turf surrounded by his own people ride a wave of loyal support all the way to the unlikeliest of victories? Well, I think you already know the answer to that… ErrEff posted:Very engaging. DMCrimson posted:An absolute milestone. bone emulator posted:The saddest and most heartwarming game of the year. Not even we could push him to the top against the likes of our winner. But then isn’t noble failure the true goon tradition? Wow, I don’t know about you my friends but I think this has been a countdown for the ages. We’ve seen the resurrection of strategy-RPGs, we’ve seen success for cleaning and dismantling simulators, we’ve seen games close to three decades old, we’ve seen a free-to-play CCG mobile game, we’ve seen Dragon Quest XI’s astounding longevity, we’ve seen two Pokémon entries in the top 10, we’ve seen Fortnite chart for the very first time, we’ve seen the end of Disco Elysium’s reign in the top 10, we’ve seen VG get gotted and we’ve seen one of our own come as close as you can get to taking the crown. Yes, it’s been a hell of a countdown but it’s not over yet because we still have one game left. Your Game of the Year, the only game that it could ever be, the game that you knew it had to be because in this year of 2022 the question was never who. The question was by how much…

I am so happy for the love Pentiment has gotten, it was such a wonderful surprise and such an amazing game, and I adored every second of playing it and replaying it and replaying it again and replaying it one more time. Just a fantastic, fantastic game and seeing it placed 2nd on the list of ALL games in 2022 is heartwarming, especially considering the behemoth that came in at #1.
