Pentiment is utterly brilliant. An incredible story that really makes you care about an extremely obscure era of history (like to the layman, you know what I mean) and so so many great characters. I’m so, so happy it made it to second place.

2023 is going to be a drat bloodbath, let's not forget Zelda is on the way but will probably disappoint a lot of people after Elden Ring, I'll wager

My lovelies, we have reached the end of the line. In just a few short moments we will be taking a look at your Game of the Year but first we must run through the few special goon awards that need to be given out! Firstly we present the award for Best Clairvoyant, which goes to the goon who managed to get as close as possible to the final top 10 with their list. This year’s winner is… Regy Rusty! This goon named 6 out of the top 7 and 9 out of the top 14, incredible work! Our next award goes to the Biggest Hipster, to honour the goon who most deviates from the trends of the general voters. And this year we will be giving the award to… Rarity! Hey, that can’t be right! Let me read that again… Lastly we are presenting a brand new title for 2022 to the Most Creative List. Over the last few years we have seen goons innovate in the ways they deliver their votes and this title is to honour those efforts. There were some fantastic submissions this year including bespoke gifs, video entries and lists combined with gunplas and poetry but in the end this award has to go to the goon who turned his Game of the Year list into a video game. For a truly amazing piece of work, this title goes to Relax Or DIE! The gauntlet has been thrown, who will take up the challenge in 2023? With that bit of housekeeping out of the way, there’s only one thing for us left to do. Here it is, Something Awful’s Game of the Year for 2022. I hope you like pull quotes. DemoneeHo posted:It’s loving Elden Ring. 1. ELDEN RING (FromSoftware, 2022, New Entry) Listed 135 times, #1 79 times In 2019 FromSoft’s attempts to win Game of the Year fell short as they were forced to settle for second against Disco Elysium’s record setting points haul. Three years later and the tale is rather different. Elden Ring was ruthless, an unstoppable steamroller that destroyed the opposition moving into #1 from the third entry and never coming close to relinquishing that spot. To put its dominance into perspective Elden Ring found its way onto 62% of your lists, placing first in 36% of them. These are scores that we’ve never seen before and will likely never see again. 2022 was the Year of One Game. 2022 was the Year of Elden Ring. And on that note, my friends, we are going to have to wrap things up. Thank you to everyone who participated in the thread this year - those who submitted lists and those who didn’t, those who posted and those who lurked. I genuinely believe that this is the best year-end celebration of gaming around and that’s because of all of you. I also need to say thank you to my co-host VideoGames for providing support and top-tier graphics and also to Escobarbarian for pitching in and helping me stay sane. But most importantly thank you to the video games for all the joy, laughter, fear, anger, stress and peace that they bring us. Until next time…

Anno posted:Jesus Christ @ those scores lmao. Elden Ring: Most Game of the Year 20** Elden Ring got 1199 points, which is 10.3% of all points cast. The runner up, Pentiment, had 2.54%. In 2020 Hades won with 7.46%. In 2021 Final Fantasy XIV won with 5.47%. To put into perspective just how crazy 10.3% is, if every voter ranked Elden Ring as their #1 pick this year it would have won 18.64% of all points.
