I theoretically could try to find a new mp3 player I like or I can stick with what has been a solid choice for me for 25?+ years. Using Winamp takes zero brainpower. It. Just. Works.

It's been like 2 decades can I still trust the MilkDrop people?

If you can't trust the MilkDrop people, who the hell can you trust?

I switched from foobar2000 back to WACUP (modernized Winamp) a year ago. It doesn't yet support file associations (because modern Windows changed how they work) and has occasional stability issues but works pretty well otherwise.

I once had to put my former friend/roommate in a headlock because he got super high and decided my antidepressants were "holding me back" and tried to flush them down the toilet. Mind you he couldn't even function without alcohol/weed/cocaine.

This is a bizarre thing to get judgmental about.

Though realtalk, it depends a lot on the media. Something that's naturally fast paced or tightly produced isn't an issue and I mostly listen to things that keep me engaged intrinsically, but something like an hour long Youtube rant would have me wishing for death (though I imagine this is exacerbated by Youtube metrics encouraging creators to stretch out their videos).

Why would you listen to something that has you "wishing for death" sped up or at normal speed?

Proper conversation speed depends on everyone in the circle, so what works for a given topic and two individuals will change when adding a third. NTs can tell when someone is dragging down a group chat, it's extremely obvious. Could happen between two people in a group as well. ADHD people have a higher threshold for dopamine in conversations, and you can't say anything to the recorded people when you join in, so you might have to fix their intolerably slow pacing with technology. The result is the intellectually/emotionally valuable conversation that NTs experience from the raw mp3, albeit with more glucose energy spent by the brain

I'm pretty sure they aren't referring to the content, so much as the experience of consuming that content. ADHD can make an otherwise interesting conversation (or anything really) just excruciating to sit through, no matter how much you might live the subject matter. I've never felt a need to speed up something like a podcast, but I can totally understand someone who does need to. However, I tend to often find it unpleasant to have to read text out loud to another person. I'm a very fast reader and having to read aloud forces me to slow down to an uncomfortable degree. I end up in a situation where my brain keeps wanting to jump ahead and read the next paragraph. I've even been told that I'm very good at reading aloud, but it doesn't make the experience of doing so less boring to me.
