if you want a Cyberpunk tabletop game that's friendly to beginners and honestly worth playing I'd honestly suggest Hard-Wired Island, it's a fantastic little system with imo the right amount of crunch and very little of the social cruft (aka racism homophobia ableism etc) that most Cyberpunk settings have.

Cyberpunk seems to attract ridiculously granular systems loaded with gun porn and complex mutually incompatible magic/hacking systems which are all nowhere near worth the trouble
i've been playing a game of cyberpunk red with some friends, and the guy running it is 100% the kind of guy that was adding in catastrophic critical hits and other such gritty nonsense when he was running a 5E campaign for no apparent reason other than "IT'S GRITTY!" without any comprehension that the player characters get hit with them more often and also have to deal with them in the long run in ways that non-player characters don't.

"so i lost a lung or something?"

"GRITTY!"

"so should i roll a new character, or"

"TWO IN-GAME WEEKS OF SUFFERING FROM THE CRITICAL INJURY UNLESS YOU CAN GET SOMEONE TO CAST A LEVEL 5 HEALING SPELL"

"oh, we're high enough level now that i can just do that, then"

"WE'RE PLAYING CYBERPUNK RED NOW"

(it is not actually that bad, otherwise i would have bowed out long ago, but it definitely seems like it sometimes)

First one was a huge love letter to the old SNES Shadowrun game

It was pretty enjoyable up until the bug spirits bullshit because while it fit the lore half decently the mechanics to actually fight them sucked poo poo.

Not Cyberpunk Red, tho. Simple gun system (maybe even too simple) and great integrated hacking system

consider it thematically appropriate, anything well-integrated has no place in cyberpunk including gameplay apparently
