Also, pretty nice. Makes me miss when I was more into folk metal.

Lumsk is still one of the best examples of the genre, I'd say:

jazz owns and this especially

jazz does indeed own. if you've dug into jazz basically at all you probably don't need this recco but just in case there's someone here who hasn't listened to it before

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9B7ZWDaKECI

miles along with John coltrane, cannonball adderly, bill evans, etc. it's maybe the most important piece of recorded music of all time and I mean that

the recording sessions for this record basically consisted of miles giving each of the musicians a few scales and a broad sketch of what they were trying to do, then just fuckin going for it.

it really stands out in comparison to bebop, which is what miles was doing previously, and which had become the dominant form of jazz in the 50s. bebop also completely loving slaps, but this album literally flipped jazz on its head and reinvented it without changing anything.

if you can make it to the intro of All Blues without getting chills at least once I'm jealous of you because you still get to discover this record

thanks Saoshyant and nesamdoom for the sigs!

my favorite recording sessions of all time are the era immediately prior to that, the clifford & max stuff (also two iconic musicians joining forces) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDH9xnRXbC0&list=PLUJ7V33M1wR39os5qO9CWEX7cUc4fPwwi

this is a much more highly structured format with a focus on being really good at the individual instruments and improvising within a complex form. but it's also got great vibes. clifford is probably my fav trumpeter of all time and he died just a couple years after these recordings

There is nothing in life more important than listening to Masayoshi Takanaka's The Rainbow Goblins. I don't care who you are, what you're doing, or why you might not want listen to this. You need to listen to Masayoshi Takanaka's The Rainbow Goblins.
