Here is the report that everyone is upset about : There are stories out right now about a lot of discontent here regarding the booking, notably the influence of NOAH booker Nosawa Rongai. A story, which has been denied to us by two people affiliated with the group, is that a large number of wrestlers are upset because of booking changes over the last year. There is a lot of frustration because of a lot of last minute changes. Masato Yoshino and K-Ness, who were both previously involved with booking, have retired, and right now the key bookers are Genki Horiguchi and Ryo Saito. But with the NOAH/Dragon Gate storyline, Nosawa Rongai has gotten heavily involved, including in manners that don’t involve the storyline. Horiguchi and Saito have allowed Nosawa to change booking on things that don’t involve NOAH including decisions with the current King of Gate tournament. Another person in the company said that the entire story is not true and said Nosawa has nothing to do with Dragon Gate and the angle was just a reason for guys to show up in NOAH.

But let's be straight here, he could say he's sorry and impose a suspension on himself of, I dunno, six months or whatever but really isn't the worst thing just that this is what everyone's going to say about him from now on? He's going to be Dave Meltzer I said this in my thread, but I believe this raises enough doubt to question his coverage in Japan at least if not all the individual promotion sections. Pretending that Dave publishes a gossip rag dismisses the entire field. Like or not, he publishes the paper of record in the industry. It has legitimate news and business figures. I didn’t have any illusions about our reporting throughout this. But when you are covering explicitly one thing, however obscure or not, you are able to go deeper/know more people in that thing than a generalist like Dave or Wade Keller. Case and I are specialists and Dave stopped listening to the number one specialist (and probably two or three if you lump us in) in this segment of the field over a desire to do journalistic process here. There is also probably something about basically getting a fashion of gaslit over the last seven months in that Dave’s influence and position completely overshadows any sort of contrary reporting. I don’t have all the answers for Dragongate stuff and I don’t pretend to, but it was incredibly frustrating being on the other end of this.

He obviously should have checked the first source better but the story's questionable accuracy is reported in the same story. That's not perfect reporting but seems respectable.

But I'm thankful he did, it gave us his report that NOSAWA was retiring because he was too busy booking Dragongate and NOAH. Now this week we have this in the Observer quote:Yuichi Kikuchi, the management figure who worked with Gedo on the booking team and was publicly criticized heavily by Kota Ibushi in how he was handled last year, has been quietly moved from New Japan to NOAH.

It's not even about it being just Dragon Gate, which has had much better coverage for its entire existence. It's just about the fact that he runs with obvious fake bullshit even after being told by the people who do the better coverage that it's completely fake. If he's not going to do basic vetting then it calls all of his other reporting into question. Praying for Old Dave to get his act together, or else.
