Streaming is pretty sweet since it's led to the return of cheap cable options like Sling or even reasonable bundles that have the channels I want, and then HBO Max (soon to be MAX) and Tubi for some extra movies.

Netflix's problem is that it originally started out as a replacement for video stores which was a solid business model. Trying to be a network turns out needs a different model (IE not dumping content all at once) Tony's smart enough to avoid the doing PPV's live on honor club though. Gotta keep that revenue stream going

Crossposting this from the AEW thread where I first saw the news about Jay Briscoe.Sydney Bottocks posted:Very sad news about Jay Briscoe, I didn't get into ROH until like around 2011 or so but him and Mark were always one of the most entertaining parts of any ROH show I watched. The match they had against GoD at MSG and the matches they had against FTR are literally some of the best pro wrestling tag team matches I've seen, bar none.

I fondly remember posting along in the live thread on the night when Jay beat Steen for the ROH title. At the start of the show no one thought he had a chance, but they played up his six (I think) previous unsuccessful challenges to the point that we thought it was possible, and then he went and did it! I can't think of anyone who switched back and forth so seamlessly between being in a top tag team to one of the top singles wrestlers in a promotion. I can't believe this is how I found out Jay was younger than me.
