I have zero idea how anyone could think that show would be acceptable to post anywhere on this website period lol. This is not a "subforum cultural difference" thing

How many of these covid shutdowns are actually the production collapsing in a neutron fit of mismanaged schedules, and all higher-ups involved looking to pin the blame on anything else? See: Isekai Ojisan.

Probably a mix of both, especially given how thin staff can be on some productions so a few people getting sick can really muck up production unless your okay with your show looking like Trails

Yeah, if we're going banish shows to the shadow realm then we probably should have a sticky list or some kind of disclaimer in the season thread. Or at least a public We Don't Talk About That for the post?

I'm imagining theres a good overlap. We know all the studios are overworked and taking on more work as we speak. Losing 2-6 people for a week+ can easily throw poo poo out of whack.

in this case it's both, theres some in-betweening studios in china that anime studios outsource to that got hit by covid. but if they managed the projects well enough to have any sort of buffer they would be fine

I could believe that the production schedule was such that some people getting sick could horribly derail their plans. So probably both?

Changes in the way anime is consumed and delivered really knock me for a loop. It feels like they're almost on the South Park schedule where they throw everything together just in time. Sucks for the workers in the industry

the argument is. nonsensical in this context. this is about what anime you might be allowed to discuss, on the somethingawful anime forum. it shouldn't be hard to tell what this forum is comfortable with or not from how people post here at large. the fact that stuff like made in abyss got talked about as much as it did was kind of an aberration in itself, kinda just surprised that thread managed to live for so long, it outlived the thread for that one manga from miura's assistants that got ultranuked for basically the same kind of content

The rules say discussing fanservicey shows is fine as long you don’t act like a creep. If that’s no longer the case, fair enough, but then update the rules to say so and provide some actual guidelines as to how to determine where a show crosses the horniness threshold and becomes forbidden to talk about.

I can't quite see where Giant Beasts is going. According to the opening and the english credits they're still getting the band together, as it were, so these early episodes aren't really touching on whatever kind of overarching plot the show might have. Ah well, staying for the cat puns.

The pacing in general feels like the show should be twice as long as it's listed with how packed the setting is. Stuff like shots of fantasy fauna or the villain's lackeys just having a random conversation are great downtime bits, but this episode also ropes in the old Paladin and the officials from the imperial capital with no real progress on their threads. At least for the moment that all reads to me as charming (excess of) ambition, so it's a reason to keep watching. I know the action has been a big complaint, and those scenes have fully devolved into get-it-out-the-door mode. But thinking of that aspect as a second-string magical girl show (Jiro has a transformation sequence after all) is enough to pass my bar.
