Seems to be, I got it back when it came out so obviously not been keeping tabs on it's availability the whole time but just giving it a cursory glance online seems unavailable from any of the places I'd buy warhammer stuff from in the UK.

Aside from reading a bunch of Black Library, I've been out of warhams for a long time - I think I last played in 2nd edition. Lately I've been thinking about getting back into it because I hate money and free time and like tiny plastic spacemans. Kill Team has been talked up to me a bit and I was looking at putting together an Intercessor Squad to give it a shot, as it needs pretty minimal investment and six models should be doable by even my lazy rear end. That said - what's the best way to get said models considering I don't think I'd want to play Marines in 40K down the road? Just buy a sprue each of assault intercessors and tactical intercessors off ebay or something and call it a day?

Other starting suggestions would also be cool. I took a look at the starter set and Into the Dark and I'm pretty lukewarm on the teams for both sets, but I'd probably get the latter eventually for the full rules etc if I have fun with basic rules and the Intercessors.

Well besides a team, you'd need terrain. You can get all the rules and stuff from wahapedia. Imo the Into the Dark terrain is pretty invaluable, not just because it offers a very different feel from more open boards, you can also use those walls and hallways for any tabletop sci-fi RPG! I'm currently very pleased with running Dark Heresy and using the ITD terrain for that.

That model looks pretty drat good as-is IMO, Professor!

By the way, I have a Blood Bowl 2 question, if you all don't mind! SO, I'm playing Chaos Dwarves in a friendly league at the moment, and I'm going up against some Elf Union chaps in the coming ~week. What I want to know though, is...how do I actually play against these guys? I'm totally new to dwarves of any variety, and so far I've only played other bashy teams, as well as some skaven.

I assume I should make sure to keep at least one centaur well back, in case of a catcher/blitzer breaking through my ranks, but other than that... not sure, really. My team is pretty 'young' of course; my centaurs both have block, a hob has sure hands, another hob has dirty player and a dwarf has guard. (Thinking of getting frenzy on a bull centaur, when I can. That and more guard on the dwarves)
So yeah, aside from keeping a bull back, I suppose I should be fouling downed blitzers often? That's kinda where my plan ends, really. I don't play against elves often, and I'm certainly not used to the low MA of dwarves

Get Break Tackle on at least one Centaur. As it is they are far too easy to shut down simply by basing.

Use Column Defence and learn to make your line too solid to dodge through. If you force Elven Union to grind against a column defence you should succeed in pinning some of them down and causing some casualties eventually.

When you have the chance to make aggressive moves, hit the opposition players who are some combination of most exposed and most vulnerable; it doesn't really matter who you're hurting as long as you hurt them, so don't sacrifice your formation to hit a valuable positional. If you can KO or Cas all of the linemen early on, you'll start drowning them in dwarves.

Kick to the Elves if you can, and if you fail to keep them contained on the right side of your column screen, try to force to them score quickly and give yourself maximum time to score in the remaining turns of the first half. Then you should have a leisurely time in the second half to get the ball all the way up the field and smear some elves into paste on the way.

Column defense is definitely important. A newer Elf player will usually try to score too quickly and put his ball carrier into a bad position but Elf BS might make up for that. If the Elf coach knows what they are doing, they will probably use passing and handoffs to try to shift you to one side of the field and get you bunched up in an area before flying down the other side of the field.

When you have the ball, remember you don't need to (and shouldn't try to) score quickly. Cage up, Blitz an elf near the cage, move the cage up one or two spots, then make sure you have as many of your dwarves next to his elves so he has to dodge away if he doesn't want to get punched.

A 1-1 tie as Dwarves vs Elves is fine. Just try to rack up as much SPP as possible.

That’s cool to hear, just kinda weird to put out a news article about what they’re planning to do in the future, and not like… just waiting to do it. They even acknowledge KT tourney data is in a weird spot right now, since they just made changes and need to wait for more current data. It would’ve been fun to see the old result data, even if they didn’t have balancing info to move forward

You have been single-handedly making me really want to play warmaster

Do it.

I remember hanging out with some of my buddies back during high school, nearly 25 years ago, and watching them play Warhammer Fantasy 4th edition. I only watched, as I couldn't afford a whole army at that time, maybe like, a small unit or two, and my painting skills were garbage. Fast forward to now, where 3d printing has taken off like a rocket, fans are picking up the banner of old and abandoned specialist games like Warmaster, and I have a decent job.

At this point, I'm sitting on a good size army of High Elves, a lot of it original GW metals (including doubles of rare, mail-order-only units like the Swordmasters, Phoenix Guard and Dragon Princes), as well as a few resin units, mostly spearmen to avoid missing spear tips, but also some other special units like Shadow Warriors and White Lions that 3d sculptors have made to fill in gaps in the units. The best part is, when I'm done, and everything is based, it'll take up approximately a square foot on my desk top, likely less, instead of sprawling across tables and dressers.

There's a huge community out there, on facebook, on discord, that are incredibly friendly and welcoming, more than happy to answer questions, and willing to provide feedback. Feedback not only to you for list building, but also to the committee that's overseeing the rules in order to make the game as balanced as possible. There's even a guy out there that's made print-and-play paper markers, in case you wanted to try the game before printing or purchasing any miniatures.

My recommendation is to look around at some of the different armies, see what catches your eye modelwise, and start buying into it. Worst comes to worst, especially if you're printing it yourself, is you're out a little bit of resin and time.

These are exactly them. There's also the Warmaster army builder, which has lists and points for a lot more armies than there are paper counters for, but that's something to look into once you get an idea of a starting army. Most of the people I've seen playing also use the Revolution ruleset, which is the fan continuation and adds in a few rules from Warmaster Ancients in order to make the game more exciting. The rules for that can be found here, so when you're ready, the information is there for you.
