Rex Morgan MD

My father was an EMT and once responded to an accident where an agitated driver went off the road and hit a tree. The driver, already upset and now shaken, kept screaming that her baby was in the backseat and someone had to save her baby. In the backseat was a small tree root-balled up for transplanting.

Anyway if this is where Rex Morgan is going I'd like to ask Terry Beatty what they were doing in Hatfield, MA in the early 90s.

Yeah so far the strip seems to have a "our bodily functions, right girls?" gimmick, which is exactly the kind of thing I expect soccer players to make comics about.

It's worth noting that "Kivikasvot" (literally Stone Faces) was a singer group who also got a really awful variety show back in the 60s or 70s or something, and that poo poo was broadcast and rerun every week for a couple of decades. They're still probably airing reruns on one of our awful cable channels.

^part of what makes Footrot Flats an A-rank comic to me is the absolutely honest, no-punches-pulled approach to farming life

In the PYF comics thread, there was a manga called 'The Noble Peasant' which detailed the life of a person who grew up on a Japanese farm. It was really good.

I have no idea how repetitive it may or may not get with specific jokes, but so far I'm definitely appreciating the perspective because after witnessing the sheer crushing cultural weight of comics with women who are some combination of Responsible Mom/Sarcastic McRolleyes/Girl Friend it's kind of nice to see one that's just writing them as a bunch of weird people participating in a highly specific activity and willing to be as frank and grossout about it as it wants.

I want a Mythbusters episode covering all the stuff we've seen Scarlet doing. Catching a kid on a cane with her leg, stopping a pro ball player from swinging a bat, etc. I have to imagine it would just ruin a ballistics gel dummy.

Also, let's appreciate that there was an open quarry within walking distance of the blind boy's house, which is just seconds away from the lagoon. The geography of this town is downright Springfieldian.

When a poster apologizes for a translation it reminds me to thank all the posters who post translations. The Japanese and Finnish translations through the years have been fantastic, and all the others as well (i'm probably forgetting another language that gets posted a lot, sorry, many times, i forget a comic is actually translated).
For content, anyone else find themselves reading comics backwards after reading so many (excellent) japanese comics? I've actually thought a comic was backwards and then realized i was reading right to left - especially 4 panels in a cube.
