It's weird to care how people urinate. The position literally does not matter, just try to keep it sanitary. Gendered piss positions are so loving goddamn stupid.

There's definitely some conversation to be had about porn and other sexual content re: women like Amouranth being exploited. Strange how male anti porn activists are more concerned with how porn affects them.

I remember seeing one of his specials, not sure if it was Comedy central or some other channel like 10ish years ago, where he talked about having an orgy with the audience to the point where they could "surf out of the theater on the jizm," so he should probably stop throwing rocks in his glass house.

Antiporn, nofap, nnn, etc. are just weird alt-right and fash recruiting pipelines that take advantage of insecure guys same as the incel movement does, and it really bothers me that they get, at best, looked upon as quriky and goofy, rather than dangerous.

That's wild as hell, because my Republican redneck dad was always nagging me as a kid to "turn the lights off when you leave a room, I don't want my power bill going up lighting an empty room", "turn your computer/Nintendo off when you're done with it", etc. The idea that now doing the exact opposite as some big own is...huh.

It's bad to do it because it's good for the planet.

I've said it before but there's an unbroken line of conservative boogeymen they seem to get outraged over. It reminds me of something that I heard on the Citations Needed podcast about tort reform- Whenever you heard about petty or ludicrous lawsuits it turned out there was some lobbying group that would spend their time scraping legal records for examples meant to garner maximum outrage from the public. Very little context was given to the lawsuits themselves (since quite a few of them, like the McDonald's hot coffee incident) weren't so unreasonable when you dug under the surface. That, and at the time I doubt most non journalists would have the means to research and verify these lawsuits. So people would get all pissed off that companies got sued over dumb reasons and in turn vote in favor of tort reform which of course benefit these companies. I wouldn't be shocked if similar stuff is happening with these rage bait articles.

It's like how after the Brexit vote the Daily Mail had an article complaining that stupid Brits thought the EU had rules requiring bananas be straight, when the only reason people might have thought that was because the Daily Mail published articles claiming that was true.

Panfilo posted:I've said it before but there's an unbroken line of conservative boogeymen they seem to get outraged over. It reminds me of something that I heard on the Citations Needed podcast about tort reform- When I was like I dunno, 10, I would watch the news with my family every night. My parents hardly ever had any commentary on the stories of the day, so what I took from the experience was: "find out whatever the anchors are talking about most frequently and most worriedly, and those things are the biggest problems the country has". So in my mind, hearing news story after news story about people suing companies meant that the biggest problem the country had was: too many lawsuits i.e. people just thinking they could fill in a form and throw it through a company's window wrapped around a rock yelling "I SUE YOU" and they get a million dollars. I used this scenario as the basis of comedy but it also "felt" true (which things like the lobbying and the McDonald's coffee type stuff didn't help dispel) This belief stuck around somewhere in my brain stem all through high school and college until far longer than I had any excuse not to understand the world better. I guess what I'm saying is, the news is to blame, anything except my own utter stupidity

Astroturf implied it was created by McDonalds. It wasn’t. It was a real lawsuit

Let me rephrase. Astroturf by the lobbyists who went to bat for McDonald's and their allies in the news who pumped it up as an example of a ~FRIVOLOUS LAWSUIT~ to the point where people like me thought it was a huge problem the country had.
