One unique thing about the netpro awards is that they aren't anonymous and every ballot gets publicly released including any comments by the voter.

BIG OVER

Bonk posted:

A lot of fans fell off when CIMA & Shingo left. The attendance records for big PPVs were almost halved after the OWE split, and then a lot of the old mainstays have been retiring. They're on the rise though, fortunately. D'courage are a proven draw and the excursions have been really getting guys like SB KENTo noticed.

From what I've gathered, that's why they're still considered #2 in Japan behind NJPW - they're a much bigger draw nationwide and they tour relentlessly, while most of the top promotions are mainly draws in Tokyo

So a bit of clarification about DG reported attendance.

The CIMA/OWE split coincided with President Okamura (former WAR/Bukoh Dojo member along with Mocchy and TARU) also leaving the company. Before 5/5/18 the attendances were worked, under the new leadership it’s been all legit and they don’t report the comps as paid anymore. The first Kobe World without Okamura and CIMA reported a far lesser attendance, but the company made more money than in 2017 because they aren’t comping every one of Okamura’s friends.

A really illustrative point about how promoting in Japan differs promotion to promotion is the city of Nagoya. Nagoya’s a market that every national promotion focuses on but doesn’t have the size of Tokyo or Osaka.

In 2022, NOAH put on a GHC title match that drew 643 in the Congress with Fujita taking the belt from Nakajima. Not a bad house given everything but two people everyone can point to and go “yeah those are focused properties getting pushed.”

Dragongate drew 713 before that with two Nagoya natives, including one under the age of 22, and a secondary title match. The company started to focus more on “hometown” shows a few years back and treating Nagoya natives like they mattered and it’s paid off

Ah, thanks for the clarification - I knew they had worked numbers in the past (2010s Korakuens were always Super No Vacancy) but I wasn't sure when that ended.

Card for Sambo Hall part 2 tonight:

① 6-Man: D'courage (all) vs Kung Fu Masters (Jacky, Jason, Ho Ho) - free match, should be a good one
② Tag: Nagano & Kato vs Minorita & Fuda
③ Singles: Ichikawa vs HYO
④ Tag: Genki & Punch vs Shachihoko & Yoshida
⑤ 6-Man: M3K (Susumu, Kanda, Junior) vs Dragon Kid, Kondo, Kagetora
⑥ Tag: YAMATO & Fujii vs Shimizu & Strong Machine J
⑦ Open the Triangle Gate: Z-Brats (Shun, KAI, ISHIN)© vs Gold Class (Minoura, Ben-K, BxB)

Odds are Gold Class winning the belts and having all 4 of them strapped up, but I wouldn't rule out a Z-Brats reign of supremacy with the Dream & Triangle either.

- MAO for DDT, though after the JTO show Daisuke Sasaki is mroe likely
- Fuminori Abe as BASARA rep even if he's gone freelance
- Kosuke Sato for Big Japan
- Rising HAYATO for All Japan, although Atsuki Aoyagi would put in a fantastic showing
- Issei Onitsuka for GLEAT even if they're likely to bring back Lindaman
- Hikaru Sato for Pancrase
- Shuichiro Katsumura for GanPro
- Drew Parker for Freedoms
- Shoki Kitamura for Zero1
- Seiki Yoshioka for NOAH

Hi-five to voters for not including Pheromones in the top 10!!! I'd deffo rather House of Torture. Cosmic Angels #1 is some real horny dude poo poo, they'd probably be my lowest rated faction in Stardom, with Donna Del Mondo my fave.

Also convinced that everyone who has bought a ticket or stream for Secret Base must have voted for Nanase.

Only ~12 votes in NetPro and one of them was from her and a person who only voted in the category for her.
