It doesn't sound exactly like the original but it's awesome to hear that Dustin can more or less still cover a lot of this territory vocally after 20 years. This album turning 20 makes me feel super old. I got into it right after it came out thanks to a friend's older brother and listened to it endlessly back then. It's wild to me that it's been 20 years since then.

I've seen Thrice live a few times and this is pretty much how they play those songs in concert nowadays (sans any extensions/flair they might do live), which imo is a pretty great thing. Especially since they don't play a lot of that record regularly on tour. On first listen The Melting Point of Wax and Don't Tell And We Won't Ask got the best treatment here. In fact I never liked the album version of don't tell at all and was blown away when I heard it live the first time. Anyway, should be a good taste of what you'll get from their anniversary tour which I am sure as poo poo going to. It's their first time back in Canada since COVID!

Unfortunately the venue they’re playing here in MI (The Crofoot) is an absolutely shithole that I’ll never go back to after how completely that venue ruined the Between the Buried and Me Colors 10th anniversary show. It’s a tiny little venue with two floors and a big square cut in the middle of the second floor. Means they can oversell the place by a good 200-300 people but anybody on the top floor is poo poo out of luck for actually seeing the show at all unless you’re right on the railing. Otherwise you get to look at the floor.

Man it was probably over ten years ago at this point but I remember going to the church in Philadelphia and saw Give, Punch, Iron Chic, Screaming Females, and Paint It Black. It was the best show I’d ever seen.

Zulu has a new LP out, "A New Tomorrow." It is extremely eclectic for a non "post-hardcore" band. Major upgrade from their previous EPs in terms of quality, but still rooted I guess? More specifically, maybe, a link to their song "Who Jah Bless, No One Curse" as it took a surprising direction toward the end. Anyway, it's good and I like it.

Anyone got Jeromes Dream tickets? I've got Jeromes Dream tickets. I'm not totally convinced they can recapture the magic of their 20+ year old stuff but they're playing a few miles from home. It'd be stupid to not go.

Scowl played a Misfits cover!

So today I found out it seems like nazi groups have realized that skinheads aren’t generally welcome, and they’ve moved to the new term “boot boy”. Just so you can keep fascist rear end poo poo outta your playlists if you’re so inclined. On an Apple Music shuffle some dumb rear end bad with questionable lyrics came up called “conservative military image” and I had to look em up and make sure so I could blast it from the orbit of my music.
