You know, for as much of a mixed bag that I think Prometheus and Alien Covenant are, I am sad we wont get a final film from Ridley to round out the David arc. Michael Fassbender brought a real verve to the character and it would have been cool to see it finished. It's a shame they really had to shoehorn the whole origin story of the Xenomorph into that story, but it was interesting enough.

If the show is just gonna be a xeno outbreak but stretched out over like 8 hours instead of 2 hours it's gonna suck. Hopefully they'll be confident enough to get at least somewhat creative with it.

The Xenogoose/Goosomorph should be the very first creature the characters confront and give them a ton of trouble because of its long neck. Perfect foreshadowing for when the season finale features the Giraffeomorph/Xenogiraffe.

The TV show being set on Earth at all is a bit of disappointment to me. I don't really have strong opinions one way or another on whether Earth in the Alien universe should be a polluted hellscape left behind by corporate exploitation, or a glittering paradise built on the back of downtrodden off-world colonists supplying it. I find the the larger through-line of the movies, beyond the xenomorph themselves, far more interesting. The universe beyond Earth is cold and empty place, dotted by ancient horrors that we have nothing in common with and any remotely relatable life seemingly subscribing to the Dark Forest hypothesis while humanity is the new fool making a lot of noise as they stumble about.

The Youtube algorithm dropped a Prometheus lore video about the engineers based off of some (unofficial / fanfic?) early draft of the script. I was wondering – where can I learn more about the engineers and the lore behind them? I think the *supposed* early draft mentioned something about the engineers worshipping the deacon, and the goo being an attempt at recreating its blood or something. I can always headcanon things but would love to see what is available out there that I can read more into.

Off the top of my head I would start at Strange Shapes, although I don’t think he focused that much on Prometheus compared to the other films. “Lore” is a strong word though, like you mentioned a lot of this is probably from drafts, some of which may have been rejected quickly.

The only caveat is that it’s not strictly horror but more of an adventure show. The tone is often closer to The Martian, and the series peaks with a two-episode mini-movie at the start of Season 2, but the quality is fairly consistent throughout, and it actually has an ending. Space is a cold, hostile place, filled with beings and creatures that want to kill you just because, and even in the tiny survival enclave humans have established there's still a good chance that you'll die horribly and pointlessly simply from being in the wrong place at the wrong time. All the while, cosmic forces you have no hope of ever understanding toy with your existence for their own purposes, until suddenly they're done with you and you're abandoned to random fate. Enjoy!)

I enjoyed Lost in Space as a sci-fi adventure, but I wouldn't say it invokes the Dark Forest hypothesis in any way. The show's mainly hopeful in its message by showing the alien robots are fundamentally benevolent and empathic, but have been corrupted and just need to be shown benevolence by humans in order to revert to it themselves
