Can't wait until hyper-analyzing Harry Potter with the zeal and focus usually reserved for religious texts is finally unpopular again. This will, of course, be long after I have died of old age.

I don't care if you're a star, the moon, or the whole damn sky, you need to come back down to earth and remember where you came from
I've been playing Chained Echoes lately, and it's more or less every final fantasy RPG + chrono games + Xenogears combined into one. It uses the Star progression system from Chrono Cross, but it kind of twists it by having characters get 12 options of abilities + benefits per "tier" so whenever you do reach a milestone in the game, you get more ways to customize your party members. It has the party switchout system from Final Fantasy X, except you can only switch out party members with whoever you pair them up with so you only have four slots on the field. It also has Materia from FF7 and Skills from FF9. And Job Crystals, too (although i'm about 5 hours in and have only received one of them, so far).

Overall... I kind of like it. It still has that feel that i'm playing a fan game and not a published product (but that could just be my hangups on RPG maker graphics, or the lack of VA), but it's polished and sleek enough that i'm having a great time. Also Robb kind of sucks.

Elden Ring has taken up the beginning of 2023 for me I've basically forgotten about all the other games on my 2022 backlog... I did want to play Chained Echoes.

And now the new releases are coming in... a continuing dilemma

Bandai-Namco has new Tekken 8 information about the mechanics with a 35 minute presentation, watching a Twitch streamer that is hosting the presentation https://twitch.tv/luxsylva I don't think we'll get a release date, I assume the game is still a year plus out, but it looks really great so far and pretty far into development.

My favorite bit of wizard poop lore is a bit from Discworld. The wizards found this black hole in their wizard university that just disappeared anything put into it, and their first instinct was to build a toilet on top of it. Turns out that the hole actually just teleported poo poo into the attic. Then they experimented with ways of producing infinite energy with this teleportation hole, but the experiments ended with a short sharp shower of poo poo.

Basically, if you want to read a book about wizards and poo poo, read Terry Pratchett.

Discworld deserves all the game and love HP has and didn't earn. Fantastic inclusive fantasy world with a better take or version of just about every fantasy element or trope that exists. Shame Discworld never seems to get kickass videogame or TV adaptations, that's the fantasy city and world I want to explore.

Discworld Noir is phenomenal. Unfortunately it takes like a VM running Windows 98 to play it, it's that broken.

I enjoy Discworld 1 + 2 but accept they're bullshit hard and not for everyone. Eric Idle is a great Rincewind, though. Discworld Noir is genuinely great though a pain in the rear end to get running.

The real answer though is that the Discworld MUD exists, is arguably one of the best MUDs ever made, and is a pretty incredible adaptation of the Disc.
