Yeah the way it translated definitely seemed like 4 of everything and then back of line, but that didn't sound right.

Well then... Hopefully, I can come a way with a pile of Max Toy! Wonder if they're bringing a lot of stuff or just want to clear out quick.

I saw Sarujirushi already mention that he anticipates selling out immediately and will be leaving the show by noon, lol.

They will sell quickly to be sure, but they make a bunch for these events. I’be got an in so to speak so I’m getting the MaxToy figures that I want locked (honestly just 4 of them) and I’m asking another friend to pick up a pair of yankee cats from Bird Ark. That’ll do it for me.

I'm sure everything has hype, but I think other than Max Toy I'm largely avoiding the hype list. I'd love to grab a Passion Tank or Sarujirushi Shin, but I hear those are going to go so fast I'm not even going to try. I'll swing by the booths and if something's there great, but not going to be busted up about it. Sunguts is my #2, but I'm just as interested in his unlicensed stuff than I am the licensed stuff, so I'm thinking I'll be good there one way or another (come on Megladon or GID Shin). I'm really interested in this guy's stuff (https://www.instagram.com/p/CoUiLX7vwi9/) which was apparently sold at another show by Sunguts and he was kind enough to point me in his direction.

Science patrol will be there with a few things I'm interested in. Looks like they have big table so maybe lots of surprises.

I didn't see Bird Ark on the vendor list, but fun to see they'll be there too!

Sunguts usually sells the Meladon as a literal lottery item at shows (at least he used to). You get a ticket that is a pull-open type and at a dedicated time everyone opens their ticket at once and the winner is revealed then. Sunguts is very particular on how he sells to people- he has a chart with photos of the pieces available and when it's your turn you say "I'd like a #1, a #5" etc. I'd say go for MaxToy first, then head to Sunguts (They are usually very close to each other) and then try to hit Sarujirushi and or Passion Tank as well as the guy with the rad pink bunnies. After you get the goods then it's fun to wander and check out all the stuff available. Many tables will have signs if it's ok or not to take photos of goods. If there are no signs politely ask if it's ok. ("Suimasen, shashin daijoubu?"). Sofubi are just a small part of WonFes' goods. There are amazing garage kits, crafted items, etc. It's wild. You are going to have a blast.

edit: people you follow will usually announce their booth number on their twitter/insta, and the WF catalogue has everybody listed as well. Also; you can very quickly walk but do not run to the booths.

Awesome, appreciate the insight! Because I'm a huge nerd I've been making a spreadsheet to help with budgeting, haha.

Sunguts definitely seemed like he's got a process based on his item listing page. He seems like a nice dude, but that page gave me Seinfeld soup Nazi vibes. I'm gonna gently caress up the process and get kicked out of line. No Sofubi for you! Haha. There are Megalodon on YJA, so I could go that route, but it would be fun to get one at the show.

The kits certainly seem wild. I'm not sure I want to commit a chunk of the budget to one, but when in Rome...I did see a pretty eye popping Elden Ring Radahn.

The keytar is the kind of stuff I'm hoping to run into while out and about. Definitely very fun!

Oooh, that Godzilla is dropping too!

Also, I forgot to post up pictures of a few Senjin Mask guys I won the lottery for!

It's both the hero and villain from their Super Galaxy Fighter series done up as managers / announcers for their wrestling line. I've got them cornering the wrestlers for now (Sunguts aquatic heroes). Senjin Mask (green head guy) has a Chinese style suit with a cigarette in his pocket (IDK if these have a name), and Mohsing Lover (blue head guy) has western suit and a cigarette in his hand which is a fun touch in today's anti-smoking climate. He's also got a removable mask.

Ok! I saw Mark today and got my MaxToy goods from him!

Big Glitter Hedorah and Anime Hedorah! These things are wild- clear with really big holo glitter and then black and red paint sprays on the inside to give them contrast!

Godzilla from G Vs Mothra! One of favorite suits, I’ve been waiting for this guy!

Shin Godzilla! I thought from the photos that it was a blue/purple marble but actually it’s a metallic chameleon flip blue/purple paint job! Very slick!

And not from WonFes: Alien Mephilas from the original Ultraman! One of my absolute favorite Ultra Aliens, this guy tried to make a deal with a child to give him control of earth!

And lastly for me, Mark was able to find me a finger puppet Eleking from Ultra 7! I’m going to put this on the dash of my Bolt as a mascot!

And then a figure I got for a good friend of mine, the MaxToy Caiman from Dohohedoro!

S.W.O.R.D. Agent
Apr 30, 2012

Dude nice! Both the Shin and Hedorah were top 4 wants for me, and they were the first two things to sell out, haha. I was still about 50ish people back in line when Hedorah went, and Shin sold out right after I got in line. As a whole Shin seems incredibly popular in Japan.

That finger puppet is rad! Eleking was the featured Kaiju at Kaiju Sakaba, and since my birthday was in February I got to take pictures with it in the booth! ...and boy were they strict about no hero poses, no Ultraman poses, and only February birthdays. One of our group was March 4th and he got a hard no. Still a super rad place!

If I had one big regret on the whole trip it was not speaking with Mr. Nagata (and Max) while I was there. He was too busy at the booth. I then saw him on the show floor, but he was with Max and his wife. Between me being shy and him being with his family I just let them go about their business. We then ran into them again at the Godzilla store. I was off shopping when he ran into Kyle, and by the time I realized he was there they were wrapping up and saying goodbye's (Mr. Sunguts was also there and we gave each other the head nod of hello / recognition as he passed by, haha). Hopefully there'll be more chances in the future.

If I can get caught up on work I'll get my photos up.

Amazing! It looks like you had an absolute blast! I'm envious that you got to take a photo with Eleking- he's one of my absolute favorites. And Marusan's office is so dense with amazing history.

Also the Showa theme park looks great! I really want to go to it not only for the Godzilla ride but also because I'm An Old™ and want to check out the old style vibe. It took me a minute to realize the 'eyes' on the Godzilla sandwich were eggs lol

So many good times! Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing your haul!

Oh yeah, pure fun. Literally the only thing I didn't like was they had the heat on full blast everywhere we went. I'm a sweatshirt and shorts guy just about year round (90s - 10s), and the contrast of a chilly outside with an overheated inside got frustrating, hot and sweaty to cold and wet. Probably didn't help that I could lose about 50lbs...

Kaiju Sakaba was incredibly rad. The food was terrible, but I'd eat there regularly just for the ambiance. They had a "Chicago Deep Dish" pizza on their menu which one of the guys ordered, and it was literally tomato / cheese soup. As soon as he cut the pizza the crust broke open like a dam, lol. All the Kaiju displays were super fun, and the Eleking photo op was good fun. I cut out photos with the group members for their privacy, but the guy who's birthday in March did get a picture with me, but he's outside the photo booth, haha.

Going to Marusan / meeting Kaminaga-san was the absolute highlight for me. He was incredibly gracious with his time, answering questions and showing off toys. He even spilled the beans on a few upcoming releases! :aaaaa: Pretty funny anecdote, but our group leader was insistent that we came to japan we should eat Japanese food (which I was all aboard with), and he specifically called out not caring for Italian food earlier in the morning. So what did we do? Ask Kaminaga-san if he had time for lunch and if he had a recommendation. He did and took us to an Italian place nearby  It was still super good though, imo. Got to chat with him while eating lunch, and he was pretty tickled I was familiar with the Kane Co. fair grounds (Chicago) as he was telling us about a tin toy show he likes there. He did say he'd be at Dcon and 5points this year, but not Gfest.

The Seibuen Theme Park was a bit of a mixed bag, imo. It was a little over an hour away, but right in the middle of our trip, so the long train ride and slower day was a nice change of pace. That being said, it was our coldest and windiest day by far. Just about all of the carnival type rides were closed. The Showa street is really only one street, and while incredibly rad, sort of deceptive. Only about every 3rd or 4th shop was actually a real shop, the rest was just decorative. I didn't mind per-say, but it made the time there much shorter than anticipated. Had to order the Godzilla sandwich at the park right! You had to grill your own burger / bacon and assemble your sandwich yourself which was interesting. Luckily as Americans we can run a grill :fsmug:. Assembly didn't quite look like the picture though. And the eyes were actually marzipan candy! That was a bit of a surprise when I ate one with an egg salad BLT, haha.

Of course!

The link to the Godzilla is taking me the directory, but I'm guessing you're referring to the orange and blue one on the table at Kaiju Sakaba. If so, it's an orange vinyl that the interior is painted silver and exterior blue. It was something to see in person for sure. It's owned and painted by on of the guys who was on the trip and runs this page: https://instagram.com/kaijucanvas?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

I didn't see anything Ilu Ilu or Psyver Bullet, but I'd guess I only saw like 2/3s of the show. Just soooo much stuff to see and tables to visit.

Yobodashi Camera was a trip. It's like a Walmart on steroids. And $400 yen Ultraman Bandai. It was literally the last place we went before the airport or I'd have stocked up!

And this doesn't help you at all I guess, but I snagged a U.S.Toys Gyaos at Jungle.
