I feel bad for all the rust on this. I know it's old, but it would be cool if these things were kept clean, so they could be time capsules for the era. Like a museum.

Is this the one near Maineville, OH? Nearby is 700-WLW which is a hugely powerful AM station as well.

Greenville, NC. Of the three VoA transmitting stations forming a triangle around the town, one is still in operation with a truly impressive antenna farm, one of them is now the ECU research campus, and the one pictured has been turned into an NC Wildlife area, presumably for dovehunting.

EDIT: from an abandoned-place standpoint instead of an old tech one, they still had the duty rosters and poo poo posted inside the guard shack from their last month in operation

They just started emptying the on-line game store so get the games on disc or be quick. No DLC tho if the game has been scrubbed.

For awhile, there were expensive desks with a slanted mount under the desktop, so that the monitor could be imbedded with a slight slant, with the bottom of the screen level with the desktop and the top a couple of inches higher. The idea was that you would put the monitor at the same angle you'd read a book.

God, I coveted those. I searched, but can't find an image.

I was going to say this reminds me of those desks where they put the entire monitor underneath the surface and under glass, but in going to look that up I found that...

In high school we had the kind that has the CRT entirely inside the desk, leaving a blank flat surface. It was pretty handy because everyone had a computer, but had clear sight lines and plenty of room to do paper-based work.

Yep, in college we had something similar to these, CRT embedded in the desk under glass so you still had the whole surface of the desk to use since most the time in class you were still referring to your books and taking handwritten notes.

The only time you really shouldn't tip a computer on it's side is if there's a CD in the CDRom drive, that's asking for some scratches. Do floppy drives have the same problem, I didn't think they did?
