The SNP had a handful of MPs until they suddenly didn't. The Greens should replicate that strategy of hoovering up all the disaffected Labour support until the balance tips in their favour.

The only independent I'm pretty sure would win is Corbyn himself. Eh, there's a history of Labour leftists running in FPTP races & giving the Labour right a bloody nose, most notably Ken Livingstone in 2000 & Dennis Canavan in 1999. Canavan was a Labour MP who wanted to move to the new Scottish parliament but Blair rejected him so he ran as an independent & won

TERFs are in full gloating mode right now, having decided that this was entirely or at least largely because of the GRA stuff. I don't think the SNP has a member on Sturgeon's level, I think there's a real possibility they're on a downward spiral now as a party.

Maybe she just wants to go out while still being ridiculously popular and is sick of cunts moaning at her about how she should either declare independence now or ban trans people (take your pick).

That's a shame, she was obviously crooked as hell but there's no sign she'll be replaced by anyone better. Here's hoping the independence train keeps on choo-chooing

Was it just Nicola Sturgeon holding back the wave of right wingers? The membership is very TERFy but were willing to set it aside for independence. Before they all left for Alba, the TERF bloc nearly swept the SNP's National Executive Council based on membership votes. If a transphobe candidate stands, I'd expect them to do well. Aside from the Tories obviously, the SNP also had the highest proportion of their MSP's voting against GRA reform.

Yeah, it says it's regional - which is what I originally wondered. Ireland, Scotland and Northumbria use beef suet and less meat, NI and southern England use pork and it's more of a meat pudding.

I think today was the first time I felt mad about the news in a while. I've been mostly resigned to the whole thing be a panto written by a tory with a brain injury for a while but watching Labour go from "We need to tag every refugee like cattle" to pretending to be antiracist in the space of a day and the press just nodding along set something off in me. It feels so insulting to be expected to buy it. But the press isn't there for me, it's not even there for anyone in the public. The press exists to manufacture consent among itself.

Any left wing alternative will be Corbynised by the establishment's media lasers. No left wing alternative will be allowed the oxygen to breathe. We don't even have an independent Electoral Commission anymore, which is now a unit controlled directly within No.10. Protesting is pretty much illegal, as will be many forms of industrial action soon, and all our political parties offer just different flavours of the same poo poo.
