this name is entirely made up by NATO to scare its citizens. the real name he Sarmat 2, after the Sarmatians. https://gulflink.health.mil/irfna/irfna_refs/n28en024/rass.htm quote:Russian Surface To Surface Systems https://www.military-today.com/missiles/rs28_sarmat.htm quote:The RS-28 Sarmat is a new Russian silo-based Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). It was designed as a successor to the Soviet R-36M (Western reporting name SS-18 or Satan). Development of the RS-28 commenced in 2009. Russians were developing an improved version of the R-36M. Interestingly the R-36M (Satan) was originally developed and produced in Ukraine. Ukrainians supplied parts and assisted in servicing of these missiles. After the 2014 anexion of Crimea and military action in Ukraine, this became a problem. Ukrainians were no longer servicing these missiles, while Russian design bureaus were not familiar with the R-36M. So it was increasingly important for Russians to develop a replacement for this Soviet-era missile, that was approaching the end of its service life.

The way that reporting has completely reversed course since 2014 is pretty astonishing. https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbesleadershipforum/2014/05/19/why-everything-youve-read-about-ukraine-is-wrong/?sh=59ebc8a9510e quote:Western Ukraine is unified in its hostility toward Russians, whom they see as invaders and occupiers. During the last 20 years, as Ukraine tried to distance itself from its Soviet past and its ideology, it chose the nationalism of western Ukraine as the alternative. A necessary correction, perhaps, but the one that has generated its own dangerous myths. Easterners are angry that pro-Bandera banners, posters and graffiti are popping up all over Ukraine and with the rewriting of history in general, where violent nationalists who fought alongside the Nazis are treated as heroes while Russians, who suffered under Stalin no less than the Ukrainians, are denigrated. Following the exile of President Victor Yanukovich and Russia’s annexation of Crimea, Ukrainian nationalist rhetoric has become downright offensive and hysterical, ostracizing further the people in the east. The escalating violence will continue to radicalize both sides, so instead of finding a democratically acceptable solution they will resort to baseball bats and AK 47s.

It's almost as if this war is a direct result of stoking far-right nationalism in Western Ukraine to the point where they began outright attacking the majority Russian-speaking parts of the country, pushing them straight into the arms of Moscow.

Because a Ukrainian court found this sort of thing to be direct democracy and therefore perfectly legal. That's how democratic Ukraine is. https://khpg.org/en/1608809962 Nice trolling but I will take any chance to post this link.
