I mean Hellboy isn't boring to me but his whole shtick is that he's nonplussed and competent, so it's low energy by design. Gotta bring in characters to shake it up. The way the comic is structured, it honestly shouldn't be a movie. ' edit: SHOULDN'T be a movie. jeez Megaman's Jockstrap fucked around with this message at 22:46 on Feb 17, 2023 |

LIVE AMMO COSPLAY posted:I guess it depends on your definition of "act" because he was not exactly giving award-winning performances Yeah in the earliest of this wave of these many crap films like Breach/Anti-Life, I mean they're not good movies by any means but you can tell Willis himself seems more with it and is definitely actually acting and making an effort/consciously gives a poo poo. But even just a little later though like in Apex especially it's clear even in the finished film that he's not well. Cosmic Sin is sort of in between those and you can tell stuff was getting bad because of how busted that movie's editing/general structure is like they had to rebuild everything around what they could get out of him.

I guess good for the creators for getting this out the door first, because I've seen a lot of outlets covering this despite it looking like some cheap film a few people worked on in their spare time

Yeah, Hellboy should ideally be the exact same show as Primal, but with Hellboy and weird eastern european folklore/cthulhu stuff instead of cavemen. Or just make something like The Amazing Screw-On Head

Yeah, it seems stupid enough to be entertaining to put on in the background or what not. Feel like entertainingly bad isn't the worst way to go for a D&D film to be honest. Far better than generically mediocre.

I think the D&D movie looks like a fun afternoon watch, and the sort of thing a 12 year old would lose their mind for. Way better than trying to do anything serious. Just crank up the Pine smarm dial and enjoy.

D&D movie looks fun. Don't really see where the complaints about it are coming from, if it took itself any more seriously than it is then it wouldn't be a D&D movie anymore.

My knowledge of D&D is limited, but even I know that it’s not really a D&D movie without a gelatinous cube. And I saw one in that trailer, so, uh….so far so good?

That’s pretty much all you could do though, the D&D setting itself is just as bland and generic as every other fantasy setting.

You could use the players at the table as a framing device for the story, do like a Princess Bride kind of thing where you show players around the table occasionally, have the DM as the narrator.
