JWST can probably detect signs of life sure, but specifically intelligent life? Lmao no.

Edit: ok maybe not an lmao no but I'm still skeptical

An unmistakable techno signature could be used to infer "intelligent" life. Or at least some kind of technological thing or another.

Hardness and strength are death's companions. Flexibility and softness are the embodiment of life.

to be fair there could be director's discretionary time devoted to studying some exoplanet that we might not know about. I'm not sure though, maybe they publish the DDTs.

As always you can find details on approved JWST observing programs here: https://www.stsci.edu/jwst/science-execution/approved-programs/cycle-1-go

Yeah there are plenty of things we could detect that couldn't come from anything but intelligent life. CFCs would be a good example.

Please define "techno signature" in terms of the EM spectrum in the infrared range.

I genuinely don't know, can something like CFCs be positively identified at such a distance? My thought was you'd be able to determine the chemistry of the planet as a whole and pick out somethings like water vapor and indeterminate organic compounds, but I'm not a chemistry nerd.
