I've never heard of Glass Casket before. Apparently there's some other bands and some using that name, heh.

Anyways I found this video. I'd definitely have been all over this. Don't know how I missed it.

First time listening to Bleeding Through and the album This is love, this is murderous is extremely good. I remember all the gatekeeping trve metal nerds on the internet early on saying Bleeding Through was the only good metalcore band. They obviously were wrong, but drat this band is good.

Tbh, I dont' think Bleeding Through has ever made a bad album.

My personal favorites are "The Truth", "Love will Kill All", and "The Great FIre". The Great Fire sort of reminds me of Unearth's "Watchers of Rule" in that it's just straight fire all the way through with no chill in it. A step away from the more melodic stuff they had on their previous albums before it.

This might be my favorite Currents song and that is a high bar to clear. The chorus is so good.

i've said it before and i'll say it again over and over

code orange hit the scene HARD with i am king. people were flocking to shows and going off when they played. it's not like the scene was hard up for breakdowns or whatever, but i think nobody expected it from this young band and for them to drop an album that was just heavy hitters throughout the whole thing. it was really refreshing and fun.

then they started getting sucked into their own assholes and made wrestling songs and wannabe industrial electronic stuff to be all artsy? you kinda know the jig is up when they seemingly forced reba to wear tight revealing red leather in music videos meanwhile she had been wearing XXXL hoodies in everything up to that point. it feels like roadrunner wanted to mold code orange into the perfect tween heavy band and now they're so so much worse for it.

I don't know what it is, but all of ABR's stuff in the last few years just sounds so incredibly milquetoast. And this is coming from someone who still has Constellations and Leveler all over his gym playlist.

being a "christian" band fell out of favor after its early-mid 00s height

turns out money is more important than conviction. and i think most of the bands were probably faking it or over emphasizing it anyway?

i still remember when underoath used to close every show before their last song with "fyi this band is about loving our lord and saviour jesus christ" or whatever

I'm probably misremembering the details but IIRC underoath got more-or-less laughed off the warped tour by the guy from NOFX over their overt christianity

seems like fat mike dispelled those rumors. whether true or just saving face i'm not sure

Fat Mike posted:

"Sorry folks, as much as I do like controversy, there really isn't any to report on this subject. Underoath have
left the Warped Tour, and as much as people want to give me credit for that, the truth is they just really needed
a break apparently. Some people have suggested that they bailed because I made too much fun of them (I kinda
did). Problem with that theory is that I have made fun of plenty of bands on this tour i.e. Against Me, the
Blackhearts, Anti-Flag, Sherwood, The Acadamy Is, Thursday, Less Than Jake, Rise Against, etc. I have also taken
plenty of jabs at Christians, Jews, Buddhists, and Muslims.

I feel I am an equal opportunist when it comes to
getting laughs from an easy target. One thing I really try not to do is make fun of bands that I'm not friends
with. That*s why two days into the tour, I introduced myself to the Underoath guys and we have been friendly ever
since. Of course we have some differences. They tend to not believe in evolution, dinosaurs, reproductive
rights, premarital sex, or gay marriage. Some of them don't even like looking at porn (that*s just crazy). The
point is, at some point I sat down with most of them and had quite a few discussions about a lot of these issues.

Every talk we had was civil and respectful and no matter how wrong I think a few of those guys are, there were
never any hard feelings between us. They*re actually really nice dudes. Maybe on their summer break they could
spend some time reading some other books, instead of just the one."
