does anyone have a link to that strange article, published like three years ago on like raytheon.com or northrop-grumman.com, that talked about parallel worlds here on earth and it had this really cagey "haha i know! it's not possible! but let's just for a moment let say it's real haha! that wouldn't be so outside the bounds of known physics really! in fact it would be perfectly normal!" tone to it

my brain may be exaggerating somewhat but it was odd

It was about a shadow biosphere of unconventional lifeforms scientists haven't noticed until now. The clickbait teaser made it sound like a parallel universe, but that's not what it was really about.

Alright so I realized this is happening near me next weekend and I've committed to going both days since Garry Nolan and the Jeremy Corbell / George Knapp panels aren't happening on the same day.

I'm probably gonna stay sober to talk to Nolan but I intend on being quite melty to hear Sensei Corbell speak - feel free to drop questions or tasks for me to complete and I'll do my best to make the thread proud lol

I am extremely jelly!! I honestly can't think of any questions, because I think Nolan has already said almost everything he's got to say about the subject at this juncture, and Corbell and Knapp are just gonna chat garbage

Anyway, if anyone's bored on a Sunday, here's a bunch of high strangeness accounts. The gimmick is the stories are only supposed to be two sentences long (they'll often expand in the comments, but it's a good way to sort the interesting stuff from the chaff

I’d like to get an answer to “Do you think that there is there a story that could break which would answer the questions? Or is it entirely dependent on the cooperation of tight lipped military guys? If there is a perfect story, some kind of investigative journalism, what would it cost? Would it involve travel, technology, or what?”

Alright I'm halfway convinced the NatGeo UFO series is part of the public disclosure rollout for giving an accurate history of what bluebook was and interviewing personnel from the malmstrom afb minuteman incident.

Wild to see this stuff on national TV.

I enjoyed it as well.

I actually trust Ruppelt's account of Bluebook, though. It seems like a realistic description of the bureaucracy involved in trying to actually study UFOs in an organized manner. I read his book alongside Keyhoe's and Ruppelt comes across as more grounded and reasonable. also more thorough - his is a longer book. The original ending is also definitely equivocal.

The problem is when he released the new final chapter and was pretty much "gently caress these UFOs" at that point. I don't think he was participating in a cover up, though, I just think he was tired of contactees making him look like moron.

I am not sure the extent to which he is currently dissed by UFOlogy but when you got greasy charlatans like Jeremy Corbell being UFO figureheads it wouldn't surprise me if he is still dismissed.

Corbell in a recent interview said it has been "proven to him beyond a shadow of a doubt" that the US has a crashed craft. Is he just basing this on Lazar? Is he in contact with someone else? How was it proven to him, did he see it?

Greer's cult pivot is the saddest fuckin thing because Unacknowledged stopped just shy of acknowledging Posadism.

We need to get more UFO people hip to Posadas so Jrooti can release the dolphin secrets and free energy.

The hosed up thing is I don't think most UFO people are even aware of Flying Saucers and the Socialist Future of Mankind and yet it more or less exactly predicts the very reaction of bourgeois states to UAP that might grant us free energy described in Unacknowledged smdh

just had an odd moment. While checking out pictures of the snow my old place of residence Rancho Cucamonga had I saw a mention of several possible ski areas nearby I hadn't head of before, Running Springs being one. I mean, I knew Mt Baldy (I had friends who lived there but I never drove into the mountains themselves) and of course Big Bear but had never heard of the place. So, I checked it out via the magic of Google and I *knew* the place, but from a dream a year or two back. What an odd feeling its given me.

Seems bad for all those hikers that got lost a few weeks ago that I don't think were ever found. One was an actor.

Also people keep falling off the Devil's Backbone up on the mountain.

I had a dream last night that felt prophetic. North Korea had collapsed internally, basically the wheels fell off the regime, and China stepped in to assume control. There were crowds of Chinese aid workers / soldiers singing some sort of patriotic song as they got organized making landfall in the harbor.

Then a friend of mine told me she had Alzheimer's, which is weird because we are all way too young for that to be an issue, unless there's some sort of extremely early onset version.

If any of this comes true I will notify this thread immediately.

Oh God Gary Nolan is on here talking about some "shadow biome" evidence his friend is showing him:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZ9emgfP1YQ&t=1695s

Timestampped around 28:00.

He describes "fascinating data and images" . "Whatever it is seems to move faster than normal living things, but if you run your camera fast enough you can see them repeatedly."

I've seen this style of "evidence" pop up all over the place in the UFO world, his description is red flags out the wazoo, and I'll give it 100-1 odds that it's just bugs flying close to the camera. Does not inspire confidence in Nolan's ability to understand video/photographic evidence.

Margulis and Felicia Wolfe-Simon were featured in the only bio Senior Seminar class I taught. We read their trash papers and destroyed them in discussion, which led to a decent chunk of my students getting their ping cracked pretty hard according to the evaluations. Mullis was a dumbass burnout but at least his science was solid.

Also shadow biosphere stuff is immensely bullshit, like on the same level as magnets that cure cancer.

i wouldn't characterize it like that, personally. the idea of a parallel biosphere existing in some limited way is not literally impossible like magnets that cure cancer, only highly unlikely. i would not be willing to listen to a person talk about magnets that cure cancer no matter what their previous scientific background was, but if someone said they found strange microbes in extreme conditions that appear to have arrived at the development of the cell and its infrastructure through an entirely separate series of evolutionary events...well, that's not crazy. it happened at least once. it's just not particularly likely for such a lineage to find anywhere on earth that it could survive in competition with the tree of life we are part of, while it was still just a lovely bag of fluid with mostly junk genetic material
