Yes, "trap" in this context started out to mean "gay man pretending to be a woman to trick a straight man into having gay sex" and this has subsequently wandered to mean "any trans woman but especially one who hasn't had bottom surgery". It's gross as hell.

This was called playing “The Crying Game” in the 90’s.

SOME REALLY TEDIOUS DUMB SHIT THAT SUCKS ASS TO READ ->>
Elon is just about as close to the theoretical maximum of bad, worthless posting imaginable. it's honestly no wonder that he keeps getting shoved in a locker by twitter's algorithm (correctly so, like that is it working as intended I mean) because his output is like 90% emojis or one word posts 'interesting' 'concerning' 'working on it' 'laughing tears emoji,' which is all poo poo that algorithms will specifically devalue as useless white noise. The remainder is split between his posting with far right assholes and actual bigots and posting stolen 15 year old jokes and memes, most of which are the most painfully anti-funny stuff imaginable. With pretty much the single exception of some of the spacex stuff he retweets, nearly all of his posting is the exact kind of stuff that algorithms massively devalue. He's pretty much the embodiment of the kind of person's posting that nearly every engagement algorithm is trying to keep users from interacting with.

I'm thinking about deleting Instagram. I have accounts for posting fun and goofy pictures of my dogs which are pretty nice and devoid of the crappy content Zucc thinks I want to see, but their Reels feature is such a loving disaster. For some reason it thinks I like watching road rage incidents or fights at stadiums or whatever despite having never sought out that kind of content, yet I get bombarded with it.

At least I'm not getting reels consisting of extreme gore or sexual assault like some meme pages are circulating in order to drive up "engagement."

Ooof, yeah I don't blame you. I mostly use mine for pictures of my pets, vacation or just random household projects. My reels algorithm is seemingly fine because I tend to get mostly reels of either pet stuff, "comedy" ones about being child free or being married while child free, or stuff about Lego or videogames. So I've avoided the chuddy or straight up awful stuff for now but I think if that ever changes, I'm okay with bouncing from there too.

Yeah, I ditched mine in April 2022 (after using it for like a year or two) and the lack of doom/hate scrolling through tweets is noticably better for one's state of mind. I also noticed it killed my concentration and attention span; that website is brain poison. Our brains didn't evolve with the need to filter the inane ramblings of millions of people/bots.

A pogrom swept through a number of Palestinian towns yesterday, killing at least one, wounding hundreds, and torching the homes and vehicles of many. Came amidst a deconfliction agreement between the Netanyahu government and the PA, with hundreds of settlers scouring the Palestinian villages in a wave of retributive violence following the killings of two occupiers (itself quite likely retributive for recent Israeli raids that resulted in the deaths of children). In the words of one attacker, standing in the midst of burned-out wreckage: "A real war started here. I don't see any Arabs going out to throw stones or do anything else. Everything died here and I see that we've found a solution for terrorism."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QrAinNkxZ4

Israel has three options: it can overturn its system of ethnosupremacist Apartheid and integrate the Palestinian territories with full representation for the population; it can keep muddling through with a boot on the necks of Palestinians and a gentle leash on the Israelis occupying the West Bank; or, it can fully embrace the undertaking of the kinds of violence that so terribly and profoundly victimized Jews in the past, killing and expelling all those they deem "undesirable". Given the explicitly far-right nature of Netanyahu's current government, we may be closer to the third option being official government policy than ever before. Bizarrely, Bibi himself may be the only remaining counterweight as he's savvy enough to understand the image problem that would create internationally.

Polls show that young people do not express the unreserved support for the actions of the Israeli state of their elders, with each age group growing more and more skeptical. Voices that challenge the prevailing narrative are more and more present in the mainstreams of both American media and politics, broadening that skepticism with all age groups.

With the departure of a few of the Democratic old guard, a meaningful sea change may be just around the corner, so long as the GOP is kept from power.
