Probably because when you're talking about 200 guys getting killed, it's unlikely that its the result of systemic efforts of extermination rather than a unit from Buryatia happening to encounter heavy resistance at Kiev. There are 400,000 Buryats in Russia so if somebody was trying to destroy them through war they'd have to try harder. With Chechens its because Chechnya has a very different demographic pyramid. There's a lot of young men in Chechnya relative to the total population, so more get recruited. It's also a weird feudal substate where Kadyrov decides everything, and he really supports the war. He's a Chechen himself though

I'm no expert of the situation but my guess would be It's been 30 years since the dissolution of the USSR and the 90s did a whole number on Russia as a whole and neoliberal capitalism rewards family ties, so wealth tends to accumulate where blood ties are close and access to higher learning and more well paid jobs are tied to that. When a nation does a draft or conscription it usually has a bunch of exemptions for technical or academic fields. So minorities which usually do not fall in the wealthy bubble of nepotism are more likely to be drafted by seemingly neutral draft standards. It doesn't necessarily have to be because they're trying to exterminate their minorities.
