I'll chuck it up to an error on Star Walk 2's part then because it wasn't showing Venus anywhere near Jupiter, and I used the app while facing the event. That's why I chalked it up to Musk pollution (I've never seen Starlink irl).

Starlink moves pretty fast across the night sky. If it isn't moving it isn't starlink. Also, they are only in chains when they are first deployed, they eventually spread out more as they find their individual orbits.

Saw it when I got out my car tonight at 7PM or so (SF Bay Area, I think I saw it to the west) and sadly didn't think to point SkyView at it after looking at it for several seconds thinking "Is that a UFO? It's not moving...no, I'm sure it's not a UFO" and going inside. SkyView does say at around 6:45PM Jupiter and Venus would have been visible to the west somewhere around there, boo.

Another +1 from a random goon on the excellent Nat Geo UFO series on Hulu. I've been watching it with my wife the past couple of weeks and she was absolutely shook when Lue said the US govt has materials recovered from crashes and even moreso when Nolan and Vallee were showing their bits and pieces. This drat program should be free for everybody somewhere because it truly feels like a watershed moment. Perhaps I'm biased from watching Unsolved Mysteries every Wednesday night as a kid, and being fascinated at their reporting of the Belgium triangle flap, but I mean dammit! Why aren't more people concerned about this? There are moments in my life that I can point at and say "Right there. Life changed here, I'm not the same after this day." The day my mom passed. The day my nana passed. And the day I saw that loving thing hovering over town while I was driving. At this point I wake up every day and sometime, at some point in the day, I wonder if today will be the day we get absolute confirmation.

i watched the moon with jupiter+venus the other night and it was pretty cool and yeah those bodies are obv. moving relative to the rest of the night sky. if you view through some tree branches or another fixed point with some kind of foreground reference it's impossible to miss i actually look at the stars now and have been for a while so it's pretty funny to think they could be mistaken for UAP, like 100% y'all need to be enjoying the sky if you can. ofc when i return to the seattle area soon, there are basically no reliable views even when the light polution doesn't smother out the sky almost completely so it'll mostly be minding them by other means still yall should know how to identify your planets and stars 100%
