Honestly, it's so low-effort and quick that there's no reason not to do it, especially if the pre-release stuff led to you liking some characters more than others. I personally just rerolled until I got the gold rarity Don, because that's who I wanted to play with. Her position in the meta wasn't really a factor in that (especially since this was done right as the game launched and nobody knew anything), though it definitely didn't hurt that she turned out to be amazing and basically carried me to victory.

You need to click the edit team toggle, then click on someone like you were going to change their identity and ego, there's a support tab up on top. If you don't include them in your team there's a bug(?) that includes them into your party as a 6th member, which I'm not actually sure is a bug since the game functions and accounts for having 6 party members perfectly well.

It might be cheesy, but that stupid loving Seal abnormality was loving destroying me over and over until I got a lucky leg stagger on turn 1.

MY OPINION IS SEERS OF THE THRONE PROPAGANDA IGNORE MY GNOSIS-IMPAIRED RAMBLINGS
Oh hey I just discovered that there's unique sprites for ego corrosion. What's more, using an ego attack with corrosion changes it up in a vast way.

This is the basic version where they haven't become a distortion (Yes, you get distortion'd characters from Ruina if sanity goes too low and you use an ego.) from using ego powers too much yet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjIeZuZbIpU

and this is the corroded version of that same ego attack where he just picks up some stones and chucks them at an enemy because that's totally a special attack :alllears:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqwH8uHZdd0

Dude straight up becomes an eldritch abomination and goes from chucking a handful of stones to trying to bury someone in them. He also seems to drop a lot more attacks on the enemy.

Not sure if other identities have different corrosions or if they have a unique hidden effect since I tend to end fights before I can corrode them. Maybe someone else can chime in there.

You can check an EGO's corrosion effect in the Sinner menu by holding down on an EGO.

Base EGO doesn't have any corrosion effect, so they'd need to give you an EGO to tutorialize it.

(The only corrosion effect that I encountered was in the mirror dungeon against the headless fish abno that went particularly poorly, Meursault turned into an angel twice. I still won with one sinner remaining though)

EGO Corrosion is half comeback mechanic half failure mechanic. The corroded EGO stuff is stronger than the basic, but it also is indiscriminate (like an uncharged R Corp Ishmael).

One question I have, how does the Headless Icthys actually work. I can't seem to remove the limbs at all.

SITB

Some limbs aren't set as destructible, so they basically never go (IIRC only its tail is destructible).? Other than that I can't help you, since I also struggle against it when I roll into it in the mirror dungeon.

On the identity, near the uptie button there is a double arrow up button for experience, scroll down whilst in that menu until you find the boost you want to use.

Do block/evade/counters get "saved" for later use like block/evade/counter dies in Ruina, i.e. will a block action block an uncontested attack on a character's other action?

I noticed that if you use a defensive action instead of an attack that would have redirected an attack targeted towards another character, you can stop that clash from happening. I guess it's useful for avoiding a hopeless clash, but it often means the original character will just have to tank that hit. Ego, too, seems to change up targeting on occasion. I guess I'm fine with not being able to fully control targeting like in Ruina, especially since it makes turns much faster, but I am annoyed that what manipulation I can make to targeting feels opaque. I had one match in which my fastest character could have saved one of my staggered characters, but instead targeted an opposing staggered character. I guess that makes sense from gameplay-and-story integration perspective, though I'm not sure if that's what the developers were going for

I heard this came out a few days ago while I was on vacation, remembered that I wanted to look this up yesterday. First set of rolls came out pretty well - I've got Reindeer Ishmael, Rabbit Heathcliff, Kurokumo Rodya, Tingtang Hong Lu, G Corp Corp Gregor, and the free Yi Sang, plus a bunch of 00 IDs off of the two discounted 10s, the two tickets, and one further ten pull. No EGOs though. Still working on clearing chapter 2 so I can start with Mirror Dungeons, should hopefully have that done today. I'm having a bunch of analysis paralysis on who to uptie; given chapter 3 Ishmael sounds like a good idea and my teams always seem to let her spam her harpoon, but I'm also considering Heathcliff who frequently tops the damage meter, or maybe Hong Lu? I only have the free 100 for now so there's only really 1-2 characters I can uptie anyway.

Friend code is C701368770 , I should probably add people at some point!

what OO identities did you get? there's a number of them that are quite good- Mariachi Sinclair, for example. and the guaranteed shi ishmael is also good, i hear.
Normally I would advocate for raising two 2*s (since its 50 to UT3 them, as opposed to 100 for the 3*), but Tingtang Hong Lu I hear is obscenely overpowered.

Ayndin
Mar 13, 2010

I've got:

Faust: Lob Corp Remnant, W Corp Cleanup
Ishmael: Shi Section 5, LCCB Assistant Manager
Don: Shi Section 5
Rodya: LCCB rear end. Manager
Outis: G Corp Head Manager
Hong Lu: Kurokumo Wakashu
Gregor: Liu Section 6

I'm sitting on about 6k brains so I can do some more pulling if that's what's needed, but I feel like it's better to save for upcoming banners.

Also, I've been playing the game on iOS and it seems super, super crashy, especially when playing the animations for EGOs. Like, 'crashes every 2-3 fights, then errors out when I try to fire it up again' bad. Pretty annoying given how swingy the fights vs. people get. I probably should load/sync it on Steam (maybe it works on the Deck?) and play there when I can, but I do hope they make it more stable for mobile.

Tingtang Hong Lu is, I can confirm, obscenely OP. His skill power is just so high he wins the majority of clashes and does a lot of damage on top of it.

"Yes. I can see that sword... Somewhere out there..."
I've cooled on Tingtang Hong Lu. Both his 3x and 1x are bad for clashes unless there's a skill below its power minimum for them to chew through, and with your inability to control targeting versus humans, using Mutilate for clean-up with its Overrun effect is unreliable even before you consider the coin flip. His 2x Shank is great in every way and Mutilate can do a lot when it goes right, but he's better at making winning fights go faster than helping you win dicey fights.

His 00 Kurokumo identity might be a better investment outside of Mirror Dungeon, especially if you have Kurokumo Rodya for Bleed stacking.

I'd argue that Kurakumo Hong works better as the only source of Bleed, just to more easily set off Cloud Cutter's recycle effect which deals ridiculous damage if you get 4 heads.

Liu Meursault's third skill gives Burn count, which really ramps up the damage it can deal.

Tingtang Hong Lu can have some issues depending on enemy. But if he can hit a staggered/unopposed attack on an enemy with his third tier skill. He pretty routinely double kills on heads because of how it works.

Seconding this and also pointing out that Liu Gregor helps support a broader burn strategy while bringing some very large multi-coin attacks. If you love fire, getting both of them up can be great.
LCCB Ishmael, I've already sung her praises plenty, but LCCB Rodion is no slouch either.
Jefe Sinclair of course, an absolute star of cleanup and stagger. Very VERY unreliable clashes unfortunately.
Either of Faust's 00 can be uptied without regrets, and they fill different roles.
