In Elpis we found out that souls were really only given by Etheirys itself for some creations, and they weren't decided on by the creators. There's one reference outside of that I'm aware of: Hythlodaeus saying that it'd be odd for Azem to make a familiar with a soul when talking about you when you first arrived. So, with those two references I'd say it's reasonable that Venat would be able to purposely make Loporrits in such a way to give them souls, but most Ancients in general weren't able to.

It might matter that the Loporrits were made once she was Hydaleyen, too --- IIRC she talks about being "the will of the star" in EW some, which may suggest some ability to fiddle with stuff like this which original Venat might not have had.

Of course, Argus was created earlier and surely they have a soul?

It feels like Orthos is deliberately designed with some nods to the other deep dungeons, which is cute. The fact that one of the random mobs in 1-10 is a Behemoth that can immediately bust out the notorious run-killer move for PotD solo runs was really funny.

You dance sprightly for Shakingway.

Shakingway: If this is a dream, don't wake me... Ahem! I-I mean! Is that really the best you can do? Then do it again─but you can't, can you?

You perform a stately ball dance for Shakingway.

Well, I'm not sure what I was expecting for Eureka Orthos, but it wasn't for Noah to prompt me with "cloning and enslavement of sapient beings, admirable?"

What a childish tactic!
Don't you think you should put more thought into your battleplan?!

quote:

Koh Rabntah: After protracted battle and innumerable losses on the southern continent, the empire sought a means by which to use the strength of dragons to aid their conquest.
Koh Rabntah: The cloning system you encountered was created to make this dream into reality.
Koh Rabntah: Its genius lies in the unification of two technologies: dragon cloning and control mechanisms for biological organisms. It enabled the creation of winged soldiers whose obedience was absolute.
Koh Rabntah: The woman in charge of researching and developing the system lost her husband in the southern campaign. It was said that a dragon bit his head clean off, and only his body was returned home for burial.
Koh Rabntah: She threw herself into her work, so that no others would suffer as she did. “A claw for a claw, a fang for a fang...” Such was her mantra as she spent countless long nights perfecting the system.

So Noah is talking about General(?) Garuda and her Ixsalion airborne regiment here, right?

I wish I could've told her that maybe her countrymen wouldn't have had to do all that lovely poo poo to "Survive" if they hadn't gone and invaded another continent.

Yeah, like, I get that Noah doesn't seem a malevolent person, but they literally invaded Meracydia for very little reason, and dragons are known to be sapient!

Granted, rich Allagans were at the point where they swapped bodies like clothes, it seemed, but still.

It also seems likely she doesn't realize that Tiamat is literally our friend.

Is there any way to actually die when you're playing as Godbert? I noticed the QTE stops time until you successfully complete it, and all of the outgoing damage seems to do far too little to actually harm him. I only found myself wondering when his slide kick carried me into the rotating AOE, only for the damage to be so miniscule that I didn't even bother dodging afterwards.

No. None of the AOEs do any appreciable damage and Godbert even has unique dialogue for it with how Godbert considers it a refreshing little zap. I just wish I had thought to leave Hildibrand to soak the shared aoe by himself because that would have probably had unique dialogue too.
