New RANK10YGO archetype video. As for the event, I keep bouncing back and forth between Spright, Exosister and Branded Despia when I'm actually trying to climb, but when I actually want to have fun I end up grabbing Giant Ballpark or Magikey Suship.

Same. Just built the live twin spright deck, basically play through most interruptions, but I still put in a bunch of hand traps like ghost ogre, veiler and ash/imperm. Running a tcg legal variant, to match my cardboard deck lol. It's really fun

To explain this in a way that's probably more helpful: the killer of a lot of more gimmicky decks, especially gimmicky FTK decks, is fragility. Either the strategy relies on a very specific combo that doesn't always happen, or it loses to a single disruptive interaction (often both). In particular, Necroface is famously pretty unreliable because it relies a lot on luck; you need to get it banished to proc its effect, and Necroface strategies usually rely on it banishing another copy of itself to cascade things--but if you just can't manage to bin Necroface it doesn't do crap (making it something of a garnet, the last place you want a Necroface is in your opening hand), and your plan is dead if it, or any of the ways you're planning to banish it, gets negated somehow. Chances are the reason that's in Gold near the end of a month is because you're only seeing the times it works, and it usually doesn't. I'm not familiar with Ishizu Necroface as a strategy, but a description in an MBT short looks like it's a multi-monster combo; that's probably something you can choke out with a well-timed Ash Blossom or Ghost Belle. Now, the FTKs you actually need to worry about are when someone pulls some overly long combo to just get 8000 Attack and an annoying amount of negates on the board. Some decks can do that EXTREMELY reliably (Swordsoul being my eternal to-go example), with relatively few starting cards and some strong alternative routes in the event of negates. Not only are those a lot more consistent, but they're usually gonna be able to hold their ground even if they don't swing an FTK. Cleretic fucked around with this message at 05:49 on Mar 24, 2023 |

What are good anti-meta decks/staples to run in this format? I've been running Floo with backrow hate and Anti-Spell/Dark Simorgh in Duelist Cup. I'm getting results, but all I'm really playing against are Stun decks. I guess the natural response to when I start seeing more Ishizu is to run D. Fissure, but wasn't sure if there was something more interesting I could be doing.
