Buffer getting 50k a card is obscene in real terms. In fake bullshit doesn't actually matter - he brings a lot of value to the cards and is a genuine part of what made the UFC big. In some ways, he's not earning enough. Dana would absolutely give Buffer concessions to keep him going to a different organization. He would not do that for 99% of his fighters. Even though Buffer may not be overpaid, that he is probably seen as the harder thing to replace than the fighters is a bit tough to swallow. I like Buff fine, but I low-key prefer Joe Martinez and definitely prefer Lenne Hardt.

Yeah it's bizarre, for a number of reasons but particularly because if the point is to photoshop the belt on to a new champ, just take a single loving good picture of the belt on it's own and use that, instead of grabbing random other fighter's entire arms.

It looks like his opponent's femur isn't in line with the kick and the thick part of his shin is below the impact, so the kneecap takes the full force. Maybe better than I originally thought since presumably you can bolster the kneecap more easily than you can rehab an ACL? Either way it's loving brutal.

When everything on earth is costing extreme amounts more and people are dying because they can't afford their meds or rent, 50k to shout for a grand total of 5 minutes is obscene. You're talking about the same fake bullshit that doesn't matter that I did. Bruce absolutely brings a huge amount to the UFC package and it's obscene that he gets more than the fighters, because the fighters get too little.

As are the fighters who the whole business is built around creating the content of the whole brand and without the whole thing would fall apart. Just because Buffer is a big part of UFC's brand doesn't mean the fighters shouldn't make more than him.

Worth watching docu by the UFC on Zhang Weili https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qls-hR2FugA&t=35s 2 things I took away: - she fought 11 times in 2017! - after the Rose KO, her coach's "throw the brick in the river" strategy for her was to rewatch the KO until it no longer affected her emotionally Their camp and the editing narrative are incredibly generous on losing the the Rose rematch; it's hard to tell how much she wants that rematch to settle the legacy. Something that doesn't come through in the translation is that Zhang is pretty articulate, at least compared to a lot of fighters. Li Jingliang by comparison, speaks a lot more haltingly and more plainly.

Also congrats on breathing fine despite doing years of professional fights with a toothpick in the mouth. One of my fondest fight watching memories is him stopping a single leg takedown from Nate Diaz by falling straight down to the mat in the splits. Then Nate, exasperated, gives him the finger. And it was one of the first fox tv cards so the camera had to suddenly cut away.

First man to figure out the calf kick in MMA properly. Took out future hall of famers and made every fight a fun affair. Was also a really nice dude on twitter, he ended up in my DMs chatting about the Carolina panthers for about 45 minutes once, that was pretty cool.
