I did an apple bracket a few years ago and Fuji was the winner and they're regularly on sale so I just go with them.

If you are judging your apples fairly then Fuji would never win. It's a contender but not GAOAT you have to make sure you aren't getting super old produce since retail stores will keep things beyond the point they start rotting and apples can keep for a really long time, they just get wrinkly skin and turn hard.
